    For the past 5 years I have been using a Asus VH222H overclocked to 72HZ ( ASUS VH222H Black 21.5" 5ms HDMI Widescreen 16:9 Full HD 1080P LCD Monitor Built in Speakers 300 cd/m2 1000:1 (ASCR20000:1) w/ SPDIF out - Newegg.com)

it has been solid but I experienced tearing in gaming even when the FPS was under 60. Watching movies has been terrible but I had my plasma TV for that. Instead of getting a high end monitor such as the VG248QE, which would be useless with my old PC (GT 330M),

I opted for the AOC i2369V http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160169 since I would really like better color reproduction and my plasma is on its way out.

My question to you is what will gaming be like on this monitor?
solid it has 4ms response time on dvi

    can i overclock it?
    Yes 1920x1080@72HZ

and exactly how good will dark movies look with the lights off?
like crap since the back-light uniformity is one of the worst ever.

    Thank you Russians http://translate.google.com/transla...la:en-US:official&channel=sb&biw=1920&bih=976

If movie and dark scenes matters, I would opt for one of those VA panels monitors. Especially if you are used to plasma black, IPS black is "crap" (lights off ofc).

You are definitely right but I couldn't justify the price premium, $92 for an IPS monitor with relatively new technology was too good to pass up. However movies are definitely watchable with the lights on as you hinted at.
