I'm sure a lot of you may have heard of this thing. I'm interested in getting one for dirtbike, bike riding, car videos, and whatever else I could think of.
Do any of you own one? I'd like to hear more about the actual product itself, not what it can produce, although if anyone has any or has seen any awesome videos, post them here as well.

Its a good product, pretty specialized or your better off with a normal camcorder.

A guy who rides the trails I ride in my area is endorsed by them and so he has a lot of videos.

Oops nvm your looking at the gopro, its basically the competing product.

I like the contour hd more. Its super small so great as a helmet cam.

YouTube - Comparison Drift HD170 vs Contour HD vs GoPro HD | Action Cameras South Africa Looks as if the quality of colors is slightly better with the Gopro. I do agree that the Contour is small though! But I don't think size will be that much of a factor in my decision. How does it handle with sound? Seems to pick up a bit of wind.

I have a Go Pro and I love it. I use it for snowmobiling, mountain biking and off-roading. It never misses a beat and simply put, it is a well made product. The only real downsides is the LCD(Front facing one) for filming takes time to learn and the battery life is only about 2.5 hours. All the mounts that come with it are strong and well made like the camera. The housing for the camera is the best thing about. It's waterproof, shockproof, etc and it protects the camera. And if you break the housing, it's just $40 for a new one.

In all, both of these are going to meet your needs as they are one of a kind products. I can't speak for the Contour HD as I don't own one, but I have never heard any horror stories about it. My advice is look at them both and try and see what one fits your style better.

This is a video still I captured at 100mph.(720p 30fps)

It's a still from a video, like a screen capture.

Here is one video I have though: YouTube - Go Pro Ski-doo Rev 90mph

I still haven't figured out what the best render settings for Sony Vegas 9 are though, so it could look a little better.

I made a tutorial for people in your very situation.

YouTube - Video Encoding Tutorial: Smallest File Size & Highest Quality Using All Free Tools

Put a lot of effort into trying to simply some of the things I do to make my videos come out so good so if it helps you that would be good.

Unbelievably informative and you're well spoken. Most of these tutorials only cover a specific device as in a capture card or different camera modes. They rely heavily on just the render settings, nothing more. Normally 10 mins of 60fps and 720p takes up 1 Gb of space. Again, thanks.

Yeah I can get 10 min of 720p to be under 50MB and still look like the original :D

The tutorial is 29 min 1080p 30fps and only 110MB (admittedly screen capture is going to be a lot smaller than motion video)

Quality pretty poor by my standards.

I guess it was a non-hd version they used though so it was lack of equipment quality more so than proper processing.

Yes I understand the quality issue, but the idea is insane, that machine looks beastly.

Well as an update, I purchased myself a GoPro the other day and It is now on it's way over the Pacific :)

As you can imagine, I cannot wait!
