    im thinking of getting sum portable speakers 4 my laptop as well...i saw these cool illuminated ones at radioshack and radioshack.com..i mite get them[ :D]

    Those are pretty nice, but personally I'd get a good pair of headphones for that price. $100 or more for only 1.5 Watts seems excessive to me even if they look good and are portable.

    You might want to take at look at some of Sony's portable speakers. This one for example has higher output at a lower price.

    Of course a review of it might help, but I can't find one. That and they aren't USB powered which is a nice option.

    yes those altec's are very good, but they hook up via usb port, so its for pc and pc only. The sound is awesome, i know first hand had, but just could get over the idea that i couldnt just plug it into my ipod, which others do. I currently have the creature speakers
    they dont sound as good but they look cool, and they plug into my pod.
