So I bought a cheap laptop sleeve awhile ago and it didn't hold up well. So now I'm in the market for a new sleeve.
I want some sleeve with thick padding for my T61. So far I've narrowed down to The WaterField Sleeve and Slappa SLAPPA PTAC sleeve. I'm still debating between the two.
Can any user of either of them give me some advice about this?
I'm also open for new suggestions.
Thank you so much everyone.

How thick is thick for you? I know some sleeves have really thick padding, but then again, you also have to buy a 15" sleeve for a 14" notebook...
Anyhow, from my experience, Waterfield has some great sleeves, but they are a tad pricier. I've also used Zeroshock IIIs, great value for price. Both however are not designed with the same type of protection in mind.
Hard foam type sleeves are built against instant impact protection normally while some sleeves are built to resist constant heavy pressure(ex: textbooks in a bag). -
Thank you Melody.
My T61 is 15.4'' so I think size would not a problem.
It does not have to be super thick, the same type as WaterField would be fine. Though between the Slappa and the WaterField I don't know which one is thicker. -
Hey Han
You don't necessarily need to spend $$ on a sleeve, either.
You can get some nicely priced & reliable sleeves at places like meritline.com; amazon & ebags.com - and most of the time they will include free shipping.
Both those sleeves you are looking at are very nice BTW..And, Waterfield is a very well know brand, as is Slappa, of course.
Built NY, Belkin, Case Logic, Mobile Edge, Targus, etc. all make great Sleeves!

I have purchased sleeves from meritline & amazon, and they have held up well, BTW.

i personally own and am very happy with the incase branded sleeves.
the inner lining is made of a 5mm chenille pile (faux fur) very soft and protects nicely. (tho i would have preferred a microfiber faux suede...)
it has a nice neoprene shell and padding... and the chenille fur lining also adds to the padding as well.
the sleeve stretches to give a snug fit on my 17" laptop.
the zipper is well made and there is no worry that the zipper teeth comes in contact with the laptop surface to scratch.
check it out... it's available at bestbuys and some other electronics shops. -
@Cin : thank you for the suggestions, I'm checking them out right now. Although I don't know how thick those sleeves are.
@Kinghong : thank you, do you have a link for that, if possible, could have take some pictures? I'd appreciate it. -
If you want a high quality, durable product, I suggest you take a look at the SpeedThru computer sleeve ( http://www.briggs-riley.com/category/productDetail.aspx?id=15-point-4-inch-SpeedThru-Computer-Sleeve_KS309) from Briggs and Riley. Although its lightweight, its exceptionally strong and durable as it is made from top grade ballistic nylon. The sleeves interior is lined with fleece to provide maximum protection to your laptop. The sleeve comes with Briggs and Rileys lifetime warranty that covers even airline damage, so you can travel worry free!

Consider ZeroShock III

+1 for the Zeroshock. I've been using it for my XPS M1530, and it's awesome. Protects it really well and the quality is top-notch.
-
@King Hong: Thanks for the link.
Thanks everyone for replying, can anyone take a close up picture of the Zeroshock? I just wanna see how thick the padding is. I'd really appreciate it. -

Is there a place in the US that sells authentic ZeroShock III cases? I've tried Shinza, but they never reply to emails and when I did order, they never sent me the ZeroShock III I ordered.
-
Anyone?...
-
Built-NY....it's perfect.
-
+1 for zeroshockIII.
My dm3t resides happily in one, knowing it's protected.
The padding feels about 1/4" thick or maybe a tiny bit less. -
After searching and searching, I decided to skip the ZeroShock III and ordered a ZeroShock IV Advanced directly from Japan.
-
Zeroshock whatever version, no contest
-
He's a good seller. Decent prices and fast shipping.
edit:
Just saw that you ordered a ZSIV. I didn't even know they made those. How are they different from the ZSIII other then the pocket being on the inside instead of the outside and the color? They do look nice though. I don't think I'd put anything in the inside pocket for fear of potential risk to the laptop. -

Thanks. I did see his eBay store, but shorty after finding it I discovered the ZeroShock IV and ordered one of those instead. -
Where did you order from?
I did a quick web search and came up with gearzap... -
I ordered from here:
http://stores.ebay.com/Tenikiti-Ghibli-store__W0QQ_sidZ39984001?_nkw=ZeroShock+Advanced
Expensive, but I wanted one so I ordered one. There's Bing Cashback for eBay right now too.
Here's Elecom's (the manufacturer) translated website:

ZeroShock IV (Advanced)

I wouldn't put anything, but a CD in a paper sleeve or some manual in the pocket. I use a messenger bag anyway and put my Acer in the ZeroShock so I can simply toss it into the messenger bag with the AC adapter, mouse and anything else I need. -
Thanks for the link.
Might grab one later on.
Good Sleeve
