I'm looking for a good, all around backpack for my 7805u, and am hoping for some suggestions.. This is my first laptop since the ooold Sony listed in my sig, meaning I'm not used to something of this size & weight yet! :p I tend to travel out of a backpack and would like to find a rugged one, that will carry it + the required accessories, with room left for some clothes & overnight type stuff, if that's possible with something in this size range? As always, thanks in advance! :)

I bought this backpack for my gateway 6860 and it fits great. It's kind of big tho, but i don't notice at all when it's on my back.

Thanks guys, no clue why I didn't think to checkout the Egg's selection. Realllly thinking about this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834997047 Wish it had a small zippered pouch, right up front, but that's just because it's what I'm used to with my old backpack. I could probably settle for using one of those side pockets for what I'd usually stuff up front. Anybody happen to have it? If ya don't feel like hitting the link, it's the: Wenger 17" PEGASUS Model GA-7306-06, and again, I'm wanting to stuff my 7805u in, with general accessories and a couple pair of clothes/overnight things. I should be headed across the country later this week, and may have to order one when I get to where I'm going. :) (or at least before I hit the airports this Christmas) I'm betting I can stuff my new baby in my current pack, but I doubt there will be room for much else. :p

EDIT - I forgot, that's another thing I'd like it to do.. fit in carry-on storage areas. guess I'll find out how airport friendly she is this winter!

Dang, that Sierra's aaalmost perfect for me. I wish the area between the laptop section & front section wasn't split in two though, as that's where I'd be packing mostly clothing.. I guess the same goes for the Wenger.

I always suggest people check out the mobile edge product line. They have some quality nice looking bags.

Oh cool, thanks man. Looks like their packs are the opposite of my prob with the Sierra, but I'll look closer later, haha. What I'm after is a padded laptop section, (that'll hold a 17"), a deep center section, then a thinner front with organizer compartments, with maybe a small zippered area on the front of that, and holders of sorts on the sides.

Check out the Swissgear Ibex or Pegasus as well.

Will do, and thanks. Just tried my old backpack on for size, and amazingly, my new baby fits! Not as much room as I'd like for typical travel stuff though, so will be ordering the real deal, hopefully soon/maybe while I'm on my road trip. :p

If you're going to do a fair bit of traveling, I'd recommend purchasing a bag that will have a more durable build, ie made from 1050 or 1680 ballistic nylon.

Tom Bihn, Slappa and Timbuk2 are some great brands for you to consider.
