I'm going to buy a gaming mouse for my notebook when it comes in.
And I was wondering if anybody knows a good one I can get in Canada?
I want to hear some opinions people have with the mouse they have.

Razer Copperhead
Razer Diamondback
Logitech G5
Logitech G7
Logitech mx518
I own the mx518 and absoultely love it. -
Same here own 3 of them. -
whats the difference between a gaming mouse and a regular mouse with 3 buttons?
-
digitaltrav pretty much says it all, although the one i prefer from that list is logitech G5.
wireless mouse is not that good for notebook, unless it has a bluetooth connectivity or that small USB tranceiver. although i don't recommend either of that, the one with li-ion battery are kinda hard to maintain as li-ion battery has limited life span.
i currently own the mx510, it is an excellent mouse, good ergonomic, sensitivity, button (too bad they removed the "forward" button on the newer G-series) the G5 is its natural successor. -
i have a logitech mx518 and it freaking owns. i don't know what people like the G5, it's really overrated. plus they are expensive. go with the mx518. it's a bargain!
-
well the G5 is laser, the mx518 is still optical. i personally am not THAT picky where I am able to notice the difference between 1600dpi and 2000dpi.
also, i deffinatly prefer the mx518 button layout ... i like having a forward and backward button on my thumb .. not sure what the heck they were thinking on that with the G series.
ANYWHO the main difference between a "gaming" mouse and the regular old mice is mainly the dpi .. basically how accurate the information is gathered when tracking .. that and the feel of the mouse usually. -
so if i were to use a mouse at home for playing games, and when i bring my latpop to school and i dont bring my mouse, i should get a gaming mouse?
-
Perfect list. I own 2 Razer Diamondbacks, and they work amazingly!
They all do a great job... it is usually down to "personal" preferance. I, personally, wouldn't go for wireless with gaming... they have not "perfected" it yet, so it still skips every now and then. I used to own a G5, but gave it to my brother in law when I bought my Razer Diamondback. (Salamander Red)
It's up to you, but they are all great choices! -

The G7 is a good mouse but it is mainly for desktop computers. Unless you're gonna have your laptop as a desktop replacement, then I would recommend a notebook mouse.
-
The Logitech G7 is an awesome gaming mouse. Very responsive (2.4 GHz and 2000 dpi) and it comes with 2 rechargeable batteries and an optional charging base/receiver.
You could just charge up the batteries and take the USB dongle with you on the road, but I could see how some would like a smaller notebook mouse for the road or just use the trackpad. -
I agree with everything that has been said i just want to ad the logitech g3 to the list, basically it has a more plan design but is cheaper then most of it's compitors.
-
I have a IOGear 1600 that I rather like. It's desktop-size, but not quite as big as the G7's or any of that.
-
I had a Razor Copperhead which was ok. Took some time to get used too but then I returned it due to driver problems. Now I have a Logitech G5....it is great....wish it had two thumb buttons though.
-
i still think the g5 is a really good gaming mouse. i own one and the pads on the bottom r huge. very smooth mouse. i thought the ability to change the weight of the mouse was cheesy but it works quite well.
-
I like cheap Notebook Mice. The really small ones. It's so fun to play FPS games with them, as the click buttons are tiny. It gives a light, precise feeling to the gun you're using in the game.
-
I have heard of alot of people having "driver" issues. My Diamondback never had one. It is insanly responsive, comforatable, and I love the "on-the-fly" sensitivity. (Change to 5/10 when sniping, 9/10 in CS:S, 10/10 in BF2)
-
Out of the G5 and Copperhead, which one has a more comfortable/natural feeling grip? I've used a MX710 which has the same design as the G5 and that moulded design works well for me. How bout the Copperhead's?
I don't know of any stores that will have Razer products on display nearby, so I don't think I'd be able to test them for myself. -
the g5 fits perfect in my hands. it is also able to change 5 diff sensitivites on the fly. if u wanna test them u might want to try best buy. they usually have some u can try. hope this helps. testing them urself is definatly the best way.
-
i love the g5 and would like to get a g7 when its cheaper for my notebook. notebook mice make my hand cramped =/

I know what your talking about. I have very large hands, can grasp two basketballs. People say the G7 is 'sort of big' but for me, its sort of small. -

Gaming mouse? Razer Copperhead.

I have used Logitechs before and just don't like the feel. It's all personal preference of course; I simply like the sculpted feel of Razer mice and the way they look. Good stuff. -
Same with me. I had an MX1000 for quite a while, but tossed it aside when I bought my Razer.
-
Copperheads are a little overkill. Diamondbacks are just as good. I use a Diamondback and its an amazing mouse.
-
I got a Copperhead today!
I like it sooo much!
Much better then a cheap (aka free after rebates)
Logitech optical one! -
Wow. Those Razer mice look pretty sexy. I think I'll try to find a Diamondback for my notebook.
-
Is there any mice that I should look at that I can carry around with me when some gaming sneaks up on me on my day-to-day adventures?
-
"Pretty sexy?"
It goes beyond that!
It GLOWS! -

I had a Diamondback for about a year before upgrading to the Copperhead. It's a fantastic mouse, but I think the Copperhead delivers a better overall feel, especially as far as the scroll wheel is concerned - I bought mine for around $53 off of www.Newegg.com, there was a sale. Keep an eye out for those.
It definitely does. -

Copperhead Mouse. For me it took sometime to get used to. It had a cool design and look (especially the glowing light....oooooooo). Razer mice tend to be designed to sit more comfortable in your fingers (not in your palm).
The G5 was an ok look, the design was fine (nothing much new looking at the previous models). The weight pack that can be adjusted, I first thought was dumb but it actually makes a difference. The design sits more in the palm of the hand.
It comes down to a matter of style. I thought the Copperhead was great but the G5 was much better, for me anyways. The G5 is a great product made by a great company. Copperhead is good enough for Microsoft to go into partnership with Razer to help give Microsoft an edge in the gaming hardware market.
For some it's Razer for others it's Logitech.....both make great stuff. -
The shape and design of the mouse do play a large role in your comfort, especially for extended gaming sessions. Everybody's hand size and preferences will be different.
-
Then what should I do for my hands? They're about 7.5" (I guess, tip of the middle finger to the bottom of my palm.) and I have longer fingers than the usual, and they're also boney.
-
A quick visit to CompUSA or Best Buy will give you the opportunity to try out a number of offerings. Everyone has different preferences and you can see which one feels better for you that way.
-
I will post a review of the Logitech G5 and the Razer Copperhead sometime in the future. These two are regarded as the premier choice of gaming mice amongst some gamer circles.
-
Well, I have the mx518 which is on tour with me, but I am looking at the new Logitech VX Revolution for a travel mouse. It's laser, and smaller, and wireless. It won't do as great for gaming but for "small" mice it's probally one of the best out there right now.

I use any decent mouse, I do not opt to spend extra for the "special gaming mice", any decent optical mouse works for me. Im using a Logitech LX3 right now and I dont have any complaints, I play BF2, FEAR Combat, AA, and Oblivion.
-
Really, the difference is in the DPI and looks. The Razer Diamondback has 1600DPi, where the Copperhead has 2000. Difference? I couldn't notice.
-
That's a good point about sensitivity. Even though my G7 is capable of 2000 DPI, I don't even use anywhere near that sensitivity. I think the setting I use is actually below even 1600 DPI.
Good gaming mice?
