I need some good headphones for a good price to listen to music on my computer and lessons on my MP3 player. I'll also occasionally use them when playing my guitar late at night but that's not important. I'd prefer over the ear ones and my budget is $50 but I don't mind going over for quality headphones because I get what I pay for and I don't wanna pay for crap. I was looking at GuitarCenter's website and these caught my eyes.

I would recommend my bose, but they were well over the $50 budget. I can say that the ~$20 version I got at a local drug store (Maxell brand I think) were pretty nice, my wife cant really tell the difference from my bose to the cheapo version. Plus they have worked great for the past 3 or so years.

I got these and they have really good bass and fold down to a smaller size, they're modestly designed too which I think is nice -
Try the Grado SR60s
. Grado Website
I picked up a pair of Sennheiser HD201s for my friend at Best Buy for about $27... pretty darn awesome closed cans for under $50.
There's also the Sony V6 at Guitar Center, but they're about $100. -
Grado sr60's would be the way to go. They have been critically acclaimed as the best bang for your buck headphone. Very good entry audiophile headphone. They can be a little uncomfortable if you aren't used to on the ear headphones, but there are tuts for softening the earpads. I'm using sr80's right now and i love 'em.

grado is the way to go if you want a low end audiophile pair of headphones. Just as steggy says, they are arguably the best headphones that you get for what they cost!!

Sennheiser
Grado
Koss
Denon
Ultrasone
Those are all good -
If you are using them for your guitar I would not recommend Sennheisers because those are for classical music
For rock and guitar I would get AKG's -
Since I'm trying to save up to buy a netbook I decided to get the cheaper Sennheiser HD201 headphones because I just want medium consumer headphones. I've been using $10 headphones all along, and I don't need anything much better for the limited music and movies I watch.
-
I've got nothing against the use of the HD201s, since I've owned a pair myself, but if you're looking for some open-ear and light-weight headphones, I can swear by the Koss PortaPro ( http://www.amazon.com/Koss-PortaPro-Headphones-with-Case/dp/B00001P4ZH). They're quite clear and crisp in sound, and would do well with either music or movies.

I got my Sony EX-85's for less than $40 during the holiday sale. They are much much much better than the cheap EX-75's available at most stores (I tried them out as well, to test them against my EX-85's). They fit great, and have great sound as well.

for $85 you can get the sony mdrv700. I have had them for 7 years and they have not increased in value. They were a lot more expensive when they first came out.
But thats just a little suggestion if ur willing to go over ur $50 budget. -
You can find the Sennheiser PX100's for less than 50USD. They're open back though, so you can hear stuff through them. I've had them and really liked them.
