Hello all, I'm looking into purchasing a notebook cooler for my 14" GS43VR. Does anyone have any suggestions for coolers that do a good job cooling and can support 14" laptops? Or any other advice on what to look for when purchasing an effective notebook cooler? Thanks!

Edit: I missed the survey at the bottom of the first post in the general notebook coolers thread. Here you go:

    1) Budget

Preferably not more than $100, willing to go higher if substantially worth it though.

    2) Is noise an issue for you? Are you annoyed but noticeable noise?

So long as it isn't screeching loud, I'll manage.

    3) Post a picture of the under side of your notebook along with basic measurements

    Basic measurements: 14" laptop, 345mm W x 245mm D

Here's a picture of the underside:

Here's a picture of the internals:

    4) Do you have a color preference?

Black would be nice, silver or dark red would be okay too. But performance is more important than color.

Is the cooling pad going to move around or be stationary?

CM X3 and SF-15 are decent options that have always worked for me but when selecting yours the most important part is placement of fans in regards to your notebooks air intakes. Doesnt matter if one fan has twice the cfm over another pad if fans just buffer against laptop body and do squat

I don't plan on it putting it in my lap, but I might move it between my desk and TV stand occasionally (depending on whether a game I'm playing would work well with a controller + TV as an external display). Thanks for the tips, I'll be sure to prioritize good fan placement over higher CFM. Though that seems like it could be hard to judge, since I won't have access to a cooler before buying it

I'm also now wondering if maybe a vacuum cooler like the Opolar lc06 is the way to go... at least fan placement would be too much of a concern with it. o_O

The Opolar works only in some cases but mounting it on some laptops is awkward because of the bracket and suction cups. GS is a tinybit too thin for it I think atleast my gs70 this was case and mounting to rear exhaust is a pain. You can always see fan placement on coolers in the photos some even are moveable.

Because of fan system even expensive coolers wont impact temps much maybe 1 to 3c aslong as its not being choked for air so another route is getting one that has oversized fan and stuff like usb ports so you can make dock of sorts? Thats what I opted for in end

That laptop has some nice size openings on the bottom tray where the heatsinks are. You may want to look at getting something like a Coolermaster Notepal U2 or U3 and dropping some 12V fans in there.

Thanks, maybe I'll skip the Opolar and go an oversized single-fan, then. I've read good things about the Cooler Master SF-17, which fits into this category but is a bit huge. How do you like the performance of your SF-15? I see it has a good 70 CFM, and I assume(?) the fan is big enough to blow that amount of air into all of the bottom vents on my 14 incher. Overall, do you think it's a good fit for a 14" laptop (and hopefully isn't too loud)?

Thanks! I hadn't considered buying a cooler and then swapping out the fans for something better, that's a good idea that may open up some more options like the Us.

These links should get you started if you go that route:

You can also get one of those cheap Ikea plastic laptop stands and make fan openings using a hole saw and add fans to that. You can even make one out of wood, aluminum, plexiglass, or other sturdy materials.
