I'm starting this club at school dealing with LAN Gaming and there were plenty of people who signed up who were willing to participate in the club where we would play games and have tournaments.

What I wanted to also do was give away prizes at times such as the winner in a 20 min. round deathmatch in Half life 2: Deathmath.... Or give away a prize to the top 2 players in a call of duty 2 deathmatch.

Does anyone know of any good prize ideas that are around $10-$20 each. I was thinking a lot of in terms of Computer accessories since I couldn't think of any $15 hardware components.

Things I thought of right now were like...

Mouse pads, mouses, keyboards, and things like that.

Does anyone know of what else would maybe be good as prize giveaways?? I couldn't think of any computer hardware which run under $50 or so, so it was hard in that way, but maybe there are computer accessories which would be good to give away.

Any help with this is appreciated, thanks.

if $10-$20 is the budget, those things you mentioned will be good prizes..

you might even consider gift cards to Best Buy/Circuit City/whatever or even give away cash prizes..

The gift cards sound like a good idea. The mousepads could be fine, but I would probably skip on the mice or keyboards. It would be hard to get a $10-$20 mouse or keyboard that was better than the ones that the winner already had, and if it is not better than what they've got, then they would likely just end up getting rid of it.

Yea, giftcards would be ideal. If anything, depending on the size of the club, perhaps you can get a small/large sponsor or two.

Yeah or maybe if you want to do something cooler then giftcards, instead of giving away dozens of little prizes, do more like a couple big prizes.

Maybe somehting like a G5, or a nice headset.

How about a joystick (flight controller)? Or a gamepad?

Lol, well thhanks everyone for the input. I completely forgot about gift cards, and that does look like it would be the best thing to give away right now.

As for possibly giving away cheaper keyboards or mouse, I could always buy a couple of those and then the winner can choose the prize they want. That way, if someone does happen to want a mouse, they can have it then.

Another thing I just thought of is even subscriptions maybe. Subscriptions to magazines or websites like gamespot or some other place. I can't think that those would be too much.

I'm not sure if I can do a sponser or not since this is isn't a seperate organization or anything. It is a club that is being done through the school and so I'm not sure if I would be able to do something like that, although it would be a good way to get money.

I talked with one of the advisors who's helping me and they just said that we could get donations for the club so that I can buy the prizes and have money for the prizes that way. I was originally going to buy the first several prizes with my money, but if we can get donations, that would always be better, although I don't know how we'd get them lol.

    Thanks everyone though so far.

good ideas for gifts. what u can do is hold the tournaments, but entry is like $1 or something. and it should be open to everybody at ur school so other ppl participate. then u can use that money to buy a razer mouse or something cool and give that away instead.

Fundraisers. I can't imagine that as a school club, there aren't any opportunities for fundraising. At my high school, we had "Club rush" where one lunch, all the clubs would bring food and the whole school would buy food from the clubs. We also had clubs that handed out flyers to baja fresh and they got like 25% of the profits of everyone who went to baja fresh from 5-8 on the advertised friday or something. Ask about fundraisers at your local shops. They'd love cheap advertising, and probably be happy to give you a share of their increased profits.
