Hi, I'm currently using a Zalman ZM-NC2000 cooler for my Clevo 17" laptop (in sig)... I'm thinking of a new stand which will rase the screen to more or less eye-level, the Zalman is a great cooler but doesn't give me the height on the screen, and I'm looking down at it too much.

Does anyone know if the Griffin Elevator would be suitable for my 17" Clevo? Would it support its weight?

    thanks.

Hmmm... I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it may be possible for it to sag over time.

I have a link for you though:
    http://www.laptopstands.co.uk/

Since the Clevo is presumably a proper laptop which can open up more fully than the Apples, you've got more height options.

thanks for the link I'll have a look!... the only reason i was asking about the Griffin Elevator, is because I don't want a fully covered underside, I like the air to flow more freely underneath it and also because the headphone jack is at the front, the other stands may render those front ports useless if it is slanted at an angle.

oo.. just found this one too: http://www.laptopstuff.co.uk/p/Matias_iFold_Stand_for_Laptops.htm

I get you about the headphone sockets (although if you're using it in a quiet home, it might be an idea to use a half-decent USB soundcard if this is for headphone use). Well, put it this way - I can put a Crapbook on top of my Crapbook Pro 17-inch, which is a grand total of 5Kg's - 1 more than your Clevo. And the Elevator's stance doesn't change much.

5Kg's? That's a lot, so i guess it could support the weight, what worries me about this product is that the underside of my notebook is not entirely flat, and also it might block the vents.. :(
