This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Only one can stand out at top. It will be a disaster for consumers and for the industry to have to support two formats.

    As if having to remember to make sure and buy the "Widescreen" version of a movie wasn't bad enough...

    Two standards can co-exsist. DVD+R and DVD-R have, but it will slow the adoption rate.

    Those are easier to intermesh because they still have a common link. HD-DVD and Blu-Ray don't which will make it economically infeasible to integrate both into a reader/writer for a long, long time. Until that converging time comes, consumers will have to use separate devices to view separate movies and that's....
