Once the HDMI cables are connected from your lappy to your TV, the sound will come out of your TV's speakers :D

And, it will be an awesome experience!

Also..here is a great deal on some HDMI Cables: 4 pack of 6ft. cables for $11.99/free shipping at buy.com!

After you connect the HDMI cable, you can select the audio output by right-clicking the volume icon and click playback deviced and then you can pick speakers, or HDMI.

okay i got a new problem.... i got the sound to output to the tv, but there is a lot of lag when playing back regular dvd movies...

just for reference, i have both my laptop lcd (60hz) and the tv lcd (240hz) with both displays on. i'm wondering if having both screens displaying is causing any of the lag? i'm using a 3ft monster cable hdmi BTW. check my sig for other specs on my laptop.

Edit: lag is more of screen tearing

the reason is the monster cable, paying more than $20 for a 3foot HDMI :)

    disable v sync?

Monster? holy crap return that thing before its too late! A 3ft hdmi on amazon is around $5 shipped and there is NO difference.

also, try playing it on different software.

Also try disabling 2 display. Display on TV only. Go to Mobility center to do that.

got on my laptop around 4am to see if i could fix it. this time instead of having my laptop and hd tv displays on, i just kept the tv on. When i opened up powerdvd, i played the dark knight flawlessly with no lag/tearing at all.

so basically i'm guessing it was because of both displays being on. I also tested street fighter 4 with the same issues as before fixed.

as for the monster cable.... my brother gave it to me, so it was "technically" free.. :)

It's a good thing you got those for "free"! Supposed high-end brand HDMI cables are really no better than low-end ones. Analog signals may need that kind of special hardware because its quality depends on the signal's strength, but digital signals don't. With digital, the signal is either there, or it isn't.

Yeah, but what you really get by buying expensive stuff is "brand" and "status". You make feel yourself or others that you are rich/well off guy, buying expensive=better stuff. It's like when you go to walmart and buy peanut butter. Walmart's butter is 1$, Peter Pan is 1,50$. But it's all made on the same plant, using same ingredients. And when they find salmonella in some peanut butter, they recall many, many brands, cause they are all made in same place.

are we done bashing the whole brand thing? geez.... if a non-name brand cable you've never heard of was $20, and monster was $21, you know dang well your gonna spend that extra dollar to make yourself feel like you are getting the best... Yes, i know price above is nowhere near realistic, but based on principles, you know you would go for the monster cable in that case. Now I don't care if you say "yes, ONLY in that case", cause if you commit to that, then your a hippocrate, if you say "no" then you are just in denial and want to prove your point in which case is BS and you show your true colors.....
