I've hooked up my HDMI cord to the computer and the tv. It worked for the first hour. Then I hooked it back up later and it wouldn't work. Is there something I need to check on the computer to make it work again.

Yup, there is something you have to check. What it is, I don't know.

You have to experiment more and try to remember if anything changed. There is no way to determine anything from your given information.

If you're doing it on a laptop with exchangeable graphic processors, make sure that the high-powered one is currently running. I've ran into this issue before where my Envy's discrete graphics were enabled and wasn't feeding the HDMI to my monitor.
