    Hello,

    I bought an HDMI to displayport adapted from Amazon $18, star tech brand ;
    https://www.amazon.ca/Startech-Com-...481&sr=8-7&keywords=hdmi+to+displayport+cable

    My laptop(with display port) screen goes off and on two-three times before I have a secure connection with my external display (HDMI port).

    Please note, I have had this HDMI-DISPLAY PORT adapted exchanged, tried two different monitors and 2 different laptops but the problem persists.
    One time I got a blue screen of death with my AOC I2473PWM 1080p IPS monitor with"zzzzzzzrre" sounds until laptop restarted.

    My question; Is this normal? Maybe the blue screen of death resulted because of my graphics card or crappie AOC monitor but what about the going on and off twice?
    Vs. when I just used the hdmi port of my laptop to hdmi monitor, it would go on and off once.

    All responses are greatly appreciated. Please tell me if I should stop using hdmi to display port adapted altogether just I be on safe side.

    Take care

    @Harun123 I use both DP to HDMI and mDP to HDMI adapters, the screen blinks once. I use the cheapest generic adapters from eBay, which cost much less. My laptops all have iGPU only, though.

    The same stuff with me, I buy adaptor from 3DClub hdmi2.0 to minidisplay port and all works horrible. Flickering sometimes and 4K work not properly!

    Thank you for your responses. My screen just blinks twice instead of once when I connect HDMI port (to my monitor) to display port to thinkpad onelink dock.

    Oh well. I just hope it doesn't harm my laptop.

    Thanks for your reply. My laptop has iGPU and dedicated.
    Maybe that's why.
    I have AMD A10 -8700p (up to 3.2 GHz, 2mb cache) with dual graphics:
    Radeon R6 graphics + Radeon M340dx (2gb)
