I do not understand why, but my flash drive is now showing “The floppy disk in Drive K: is not formatted or has been formatted for a Macintosh.” It does not make any sense as it was working perfectly nearly a week ago and contains many important files for school. I have never used this flash drive on any Macintosh computers (I always use Windows XP) so if anyone can help direct and tell me what to do in order to fix this problem and get my files back it would be greatly appreciated!

Format it to the NFS something file system format.

Its reading it as a floppy k drive.

    Click Start > Run > diskmgmt.msc

Look for the USB drive and right click and Change Drive Letter and paths.

If that doesnt work, do a quick format on the drive and run Recuva to get your files back. Theres a chance you might not be able to get it all back.

Also check for viruses/worms. Try out the stick on a different computer

Hey, I just tried changing the letter but that did not make it work. I am not a computer wiz so how do I go about re-formatting it? These are very important files that I really need so if there is a way to fix it would be the best thing in the world right now!

Sigh, another user with important files in only one location...makes me want to cry.

Try it on a different computer first before you format anything. Formating will be the last resort.

What would make it not work on my computer anymore?

Alright. So the only thing that I can do tonight to try making it work would be to wait until I can stick it into another computer?

I guess we just assume everyone has more than one computer.

You can always run a check disk on the drive to see for errors.
