I'm a happy user with 2 HP Business Notebooks and each has a 3-in-1 Dockung station.. Due to hardware defects of the harddrives in the notebooks itself, I've replaced the harddrives in both notebooks which both now work just fine..
However the Docking stations started to do weird things.. I managed to Backup one of the drives before a real dissater happend but now I am stuck with 2 docking stations which can no longer be reached.
HP has Stopped the service on this docking station and they simply turned me down with my service request.
Normally one should be able to access the webinterface with the http://hpnas/ in a browser.. however this turns up nothing.. adding the real IP to the hosts file results in the same thing..
So I am wondering if someone else who has a functioning system with docking station could tell me how to reach the webinterface of the docking station after the harddrive swap.
HP has told me that the backup software should do this, but it does not.
Both machines have windows XP Professional on them (I know, still is), and both machines are docked and working fine.
Both the Docking stations have their fixed IP and react on a ping.. but nothing else..
Both had a NAS on them, and both can no longer be connected to . .
I presume some entry somewhere in the registry of windows would set the http://hpnas/ to the right ip adress, but I can not find any held anywhere.
Who has an idear how to connect to them again ?

Have you tried typing their IP address in your browser instead of http://hpnas/ ?
When you edited the hosts file have you added a line such as:
192.168.1.1 hpnas
(where 192.168.1.1 is the address of one of your docking stations.)
Also, is the IP address of your docking station in the same network as your PC? -
I am in the Business of Computers, and I suspect that some port or some other value has to be set somewhere, but I can't locate that value anywhere.. since the previous harddrives are no longer funktional in those machines. IF I know where to look, I might find that information as one drive still have some access options, but searching a 250 GB drive for the Http://hpnas/ as a statement failed.. as it returned no findings.

Using the HPNas in the URL it can't find the IP Address, and it seems that using the ip adress, it fails to see the "domain" or something like that.
If someone still has this configuration up and running, they could check if a ping towards the HPNAS is actually giving back an ip address or not.. something I did not do while it was still operating..
using Net Use /ip-address/Nas-Name used to work from other PC's (not the ones in the docking stations) and stoped working the same day. This seems to me that the configuration of the docking station has changed, therefor I am trying to access that config again.. without success upto now
