I'm really unfamiliar with newer laptop & accessories, so I thought I'd ask...

I've been pricing newer laptops and almost all seem to offer a Bluetooth mouse as an accessory. Specifically HP & Dell. I think I'm going to go with the HP laptop and I was just making sure that if I purchase the bluetooth mouse they offer, then I have no extra wires or USB modules to use right? Of course, the laptop will have built-in bluetooth capability, so it seems logical but I've never heard of it, or seen it used.

    Thanks for the info!

You're right! No dongles required with bluetooth mice/keyboards.. just as long as you have built-in bluetooth capability.

    Hey! Welcome to Notebookreview yort265!

Yes, you can connect a bluetooth enabled laptop to ANY bluetooth compatible device. Mice, headphones, speakers, headsets, anything with bluetooth. That's the beauty of it.

Now if you want to game then bluetooth won't work, it sucks for gaming. But if what you want is a day-to-day tool that's convenient and won't get all tangled up then bluetooth is the way to go.

What you should remember, however, is that often the Dell and HP mice will be more expensive and less functional then other post-purchase BT mice. For instance, Microsoft has one that has multimedia buttons for PowerPoint slideshows on its underside; that being said, most HP laptops come with their own wireless remote to slide into your PCExpressCard slot for storage.

I personally have a Razer Pro|Click Mobile bluetooth mouse for travel. The color (Naughty Black) matched my Asus G1S better than any other mice on the market, and aesthetics is a high priority for me. It was $45 plus shipping... consider prices for other bluetooth mice. I don't know the exact prices on their BT mice options, but with RAM most laptop manufacturers overcharge you by large margins when you could upgrade the RAM yourself very cheaply, so I would imagine that other options can suffer the same extortion problem. :p
