I just want to post this here for searching/reference purposes.
I just had HP replace my busted Digital/Analog Expresscard TV Tuner (as I'm still under warranty). My original unit was labeled Model 439139-002. And they sent me Model 439139-001, telling me they are the exact same. But this is not true, and most people would never know the difference.
Model 439139-002 (any revision) is model CX885.M7797, which in Happauage WinTV identifies as model 77041.
Model 439139-001 (any revision) is model CX885.M7717, which in Hauppauge WinTV identifies as model 77001.
Model CX885.M7797 and CX885.M7717 are both identified as "HP Digital/Analog TV Tuner" in the driver file, but CX885.M7797 supports ClearQAM while CX885.M7717 does NOT support ClearQAM.
HP will keep telling you that they are exactly the same, but they are clearly not. The generic computer user probably would never know and thats how they get away with giving people 439130-001 instead of 439130-002. They also get away with it because most people end up using Vista Media Center to watch TV, and Vista Media Center does not support ClearQAM (unless you go out of the way to download a Hauppauge plugin, which most people don't even know exists).
On a side note, Hauppauge makes their own brand HVR-1500, and if you look in the driver file you will notice that they are listed as models CX885.M7790 and CX885.M7710, but instead of both being called the same thing CX885.M7790 is titled "Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1500 (Model 77xxx, Hybrid ATSC/QAM)" while CX885.M7710 is titled "Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1500 (Model 77xxx, Hybrid ATSC)". Notice how CX885.M7790 lists QAM.
(CX885.M7797 is just the HP branded CX885.M7790, while CX885.M7717 is just the HP branded CX885.M7710).
So if you have model 439130-002 and HP wants to replace it with model 439130-001 make sure you tell them that you want 439130-002 if you need QAM like I do.
HP ExpressCard Digital TV Tuner models 439139-001 and 439139-002 are different
