I'm thinking about getting the HP Expresscard Tuner, but I have a few questions to which I can't seem to find definite answers.
First, although it says it is meant for media center computers, will it work on XP Pro? Also, has anybody used it to play console games? If so, how is the response time? Does the lag make it impossible to play or is there any lag at all?

1) AFAIK, it will only work with MCE. If you don't have it, I'd look elsewhere.
2) Response times on just about every tuner are too low to allow for console gaming. They are getting better, but they aren't there yet.
Personally, I'd look at the Hauppauge range of TV Tuners. They are a lot better IMHO. Most work with all editions of XP, and some work with older versions of Windows as well. -
To answer your gaming question: from what I have heard, there is enough lag to make playing games difficult, if not impossible. Check out Adaptec's Gamebridge.
