    Hi All,

As you may notice I am brand new to this forum, and the reason being is my very irritating (yet self-inflicted) problem I have with my laptop's infared remote (the one that hides away in the PCMCIA slot looking thing).

Basically, I got my dv2175ea about 3 years ago. And about 2 and a half years and half ago I got a job where i didn't have to commute anymore and where I didn't have to use my laptop as much anymore, so I thought I'd use it to test MSDN copies of "Longhorn" (at the time) and then finally went all out and stuck Vista on it! The laptop itself originally came with WIndows XP MCE 2005 with Quickplay and all the bells and whistles.

To be honest, I've only just remembered that it had a remote control and it had QuickPlay on it. So I thought I'd try and get that functionality back (minus the boot straight into quickplay option, which I also didn't know existed until I read this forum). So, I installed QuickPlay, which I found from the website which everyone here has mentioned ("asifism" or something like that).

My Question is, Is there any way of getting the remote to work with Media Centre/QuickPlay under Vista?

In Device Manager there is no "InfaRed" Devices ... but then again, I don't remember it being there in XP MCE.

    Any suggestions?

Is this something which when you install QuickPlay, should it "activate" (so to speak) the remote?
