Ok, ive got an HP Remote for my DV5000. Ive got a separate slot for it. However my friends DV1000 has a PC Card style button that you use to eject it. I thought that THAT was his PC Card slot, so I checked to see if my remote would fit in my PC card slot. I pushed it in, and um, its as wide and as thin as the slot, BUT its in there about 3/8 of an inch. I cant really get behind it with anything, and ive tried turning my laptop on its side, and gently moving it around. Nothing. The eject button doesnt reach, so Im kinda S.O.L. How can I get it out?

You really shouldn't have tried that. That is a perfect reason you just leave things how they are. :) Sorry I have no other advice...

yeah... im guessing you put the expresscard remote in the pc card slot... I actually did that the very first day I got my dv8000t... i was a little too eager. I used tweezers to get it close, then i turned it on its side and not-as-gently moved it around. if you're very very careful and make sure you have a firm grip, you can use some force to get it to slide out...

Edit: KGAnn... im sure he now knows that he shouldn't have tried it, but mistakes happen. it doesn't help by just saying to him 'well i don't have any advice except you're stupid...'

    "brutefully" ?

    i wouldn't shake it violently.

maybe it's time for a little dismantling

if your card slot is above your HD, maybe taking your HD out will give better access?

Can you take a paperclip, bend just the very tip with pliers, slip that in above the remote, and then twist it down so it "catches" on the remote, and pull it out? I wouldn't shake it too hard.

I can bet that you won't get a good nights sleep until you get that darn remote out.

Try putting (VERY LITTLE)crazy glue on the end of a paperclip and then put in on the remote, wait til it quickly dries and then pull.

I want Rep Power if it works. lol

Haha, WHAT?! Would you please stop trying to think posts are offensive. If anything, I was the dumb one for not having any advice! And please highlight the part where I called him stupid... cause that would help. Or are you just infering this?

It's okay... trust me, I have times where people's posts just come off the wrong way. It happends. It's hard to read "intent" over an internet forum.

i think the superglue idea should work, just don't use too much, or else you'll never be able to get the paperclip off..

I have no clue how to fix this issue. I would say a local computer shop should be able to get it out, if nothing else. And if you are lucky, you can get a shop that is supported by HP... that way it won't really cost you anything. Well... actually... I doubt this "issue" is covered by warrenty.

Ok, that was insanely easy. For all the lead up to it, I am **** relieved. Ok, before going extreme, i decided to start with tweezers, so I did. However the remote was stuck in there REALLY good, and my tweezers kept slipping off. So, i placed my tweezers on the remote, and took MEDICAL FORCEPS, and clamped down on the tweezers, I then pulled quite hard on the tweezers, and slowly but surely, my remote came out. I have a pair of bent tweezers, but Ive got my remote and PC Card slot back. Both work great now. Thanks to whomever suggested using the tweezers :D

I did it too, got my remote card stuck in the PC slot!

It just didn't fit at all well where HP said to store it.....

The paper clip worked great to get it out, after tweezers and about 5 other things didn't - thanks, PitaBred!
