When I plug in my AC adapter into my computer it will not charge.

    Background:

The other day it would only work in a certain position so I jiggled it a little bit to find the position where it would charge and then it stopped charging all together.

Is there a test I can run to see which it is? I don't want to shell out the money for an AC adapter, I still have a week or so left on my warranty from HP so I could always send it out. Just trying to figure out what my best course of action is.

    Thanks!

Try using a voltmeter on the charger - that will tell you if it outputs current...

Its probably the power jack on the motherboard...

if you can solder, you should be able to replace the one on there though, not replace the whole mobo.

I have this same problem with my old dv1000

Probably a defective charger...but it ia wise to test the ac adapter. I had a similar problem and bought an ac adapter for 28 bux...still working
