I have an HPdv9500t with an HDMI port, and have a Pioneer PDP-5070HD Plasma TV (with 1080p/24Hz compatability for HDMI and component).

Looking for the right HDMI cable to connect the dv9500t to the Plasma TV.

    Suggestions for the right cable?

Also, will that improv my DVD watching using my dv9500t with its awesome speaker system over my five year old progressive scan Toshiba DVD player?

    Specific cable suggestions very welcomed!

Also, since I do not have a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD drive in the computer, what would be the best movie software to run once I have connected the computer to the plasma TV?

Thanks in advance for all of the helpful suggestions!

I have tried a multiple big name brands as well as a few no name. I have not found any benefit from using one brand over another.

You don't need to buy those Monster cable ripoffs with over-the-top features for over $150.. just buy a simple good quality construction one like the person above me did from FireFold which I too just purchased last night.. waiting as well though.

I have a pretty high-end system for my bedroom yet this cheap 6' cable works perfect! http://www.svideo.com/hdmicable.html
