So I bought the HP w2207h monitor yesterday from future shop, to use as an external monitor for my notebook (hp dv6974ca, also from futureshop). It is a beautiful monitor and works great, but it is supposed to have an ability to rotate the monitor to portrait view (tall and narrow) but my screen doesn't change like it is supposed to when i rotate it, everything just stays how it was so that i end up looking at a sideways screen.

I installed the software that it comes with and all the drivers, so it isn't that.

I have tried going through NVidia control panel and manually changing it, but that still doesn't work. It looks like it tries to, but then just resets to what is was before. I really do not know what to do at this point, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting. I have the same monitor.
Um. Update to latest drivers, go to nVidia Control Panel. Choose to rotate 90 degrees to either side?
It works fine with my nVidia card.

I believe I have the latest drivers from laptop2go.com, but when I choose rotate 90degrees, my screen flashes, and then nothing happens. I have no idea what to do.

Well, I figured it out, so in case anyone else has this problem i'll let you know what worked for me.

The HP software is just trash and pretty much never works, according to what I have read, so I uninstalled that.

After making sure I did in fact have the newest drivers, I decided to try rolling back to my old drivers. Interestingly enough it worked, so it was a problem with those drivers I guess. I am now using driver version 167.43 (stock drivers) in case anyone was wondering.

Glad it worked. I have to tell you this is a GREAT monitor. I have it on my HP Desktop and the colors just POP.

    Great monitor. Congrats.

Glad the problem worked itself out. :)
