Hey guys, I've recently received a 250gb Seagate Freeagent 3.5 inch external hard drive (only usb 2.0). I'm wondering if it is possible to open it up and swap in a bigger 500gb hard drive when I fill up the 250 gb (which I can probably achieve within a week...).

I've been trying to find a DIY instructional on opening up the external case but with no luck. Thnx for the input.

Yeah, they all use standard parts. Odds are pretty good that the drive in your USB enclosure's an EIED... check to make sure before you buy the 2end drive though.

Also, breaking the seal will probably void the warranty, so make sure you are fully satisfied with it before you open it up.
