As the title says. I'm looking for a briefcase that can hold my notebook and its charger, so it probably needs to be 22" wide and 13" deep the other dimension isn't to critical, only needs to be 2-3" or bigger.

Same thing for the messenger bag, needs to fit the same notebook(me and my friend both have the same notebook).

Give me any suggestions you've got, and thanks for the help.

Ok, after looking around a bit and not finding much I would really appreciate it if anyone had any suggestions for ANY type of bag. lol

    Its for a 16:9 18.4" notebook. 17.5" x 12" x 2"

I am trying to purchase the case soon as possible as I have already had to carry the notebook around for a week(traveling between work apartment and my home) in a bag that isn't padded at all.

Are you sure you want a messenger bag? I travelled extremely rarely with the Dell XPS M1730 slotted into an STM messenger, but I was leant over like a Tea Clipper tacking in a gale. I'd say just get a large backpack and be done with it.

I'm willing to look at that option. Do you have any suggestions for backpacks that would hold the notebook? I found one I liked but apparently the manufacturer discontinued it and now I can't find where to purchase any of them, so the hunt is back on. lol

No matter what type of case you get anything large enough for a desktop replacement will be cumbersome to carry around for anything more than a short time. The Targus XL backpack I have will hold a 18.4 (it's specifications say 17") but keep in mind it is a "full" size backpack. If you load it with much more than the laptop and accessories and it will grow in size (and weight) exponentially.

I also have a Case Logic messenger bag for when I want I want less bulk, but it's still not too comfortable if you carry it for more than just for a short time.

If that's the case, I suggest you get a wheeled carrier. From what I've learned, that's the most enduring way to move it no matter what your style is.

Yeah, I mostly want it for putting in my car/truck. So if you could link me to these cases and tell me what you think that would be VERY helpful.

These are the two I have:

    http://www.amazon.com/Targus-TXL617-17-Notebook-Backpack/dp/B0001EMM10

    http://www.amazon.com/Caselogic-TNC...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1268345042&sr=1-2

Although I got the Case Logic to use with business attire, I rarely use it otherwise because it is extremely uncomfortable due to the weight of the HDX 18. I assure you you wont go far carrying it on your shoulder before your circulation is cut off. Still, it looks nice and can be carried like a regular briefcase (via the handle which is very comfortable) once it gets too heavy on the shoulder.

There are two notes of caution about the Case Logic (and the Targus XL to a lessor extent). It's straps are sewn on with some rather flimsy thread (rather than being clamped on with a metal clamp) so you will definitely need to secure the straps with the addition of clamps or have someone over-stitched them with heavy duty thread.

This seems sorta ridiculous considering the price (and a reason I like other people to review these things before I buy them), but the stitching will start to go very quickly even with just the weight of the notebook and brick (there's not much room for much more) alone. Other than that, the cases are exactly what you see here.
