I've been doing a lot of moving around recently, and now share a room with a few other people. I'm looking for a case that I can use to store, carry around, and keep my d901c clean with (it's really dusty/dirty here, and I've noticed a lot of dust build up even after one day of sitting out).

I don't feel like my assault bag (basically a high speed back-pack) provides enough protection for my $3000 computer. I've looked at some sites that offer hard cased for 17" laptops, but I'm not sure if mine will fit in any of them due to the extra thickness of my laptop. Are there any specialty sites/cases that provide protection specifically for the thicker 17" notebooks? If possible I'd also like it to look nice as well, and not cost a small fortune. (If my notebook cooler could also fit that's be another plus, but that might be asking too much).

Also weight isn't a problem for me, I'm used to carrying heavy things around.

I've got this case for mine - http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1495CC2. It fits the 901c perfectly, just make sure to order it with the padded notebook sleeve instead of the pick & pluck foam insert. Also keep in mind that there is just enough room for the laptop and power brick with none to spare for mice, etc. I can't imagine a case being more hardcore than this thing, or for that matter weighing much more either, but it doesn't really make the 901c any less portable than it already is.

Wow, this really holds the D901C AND the Power Brick? Where does the Power Brick go? To the side of the laptop? Do they touch and rub each other? I can't imagine seeing the Power Brick in there with the laptop.
Do you have a pic you can show us?

    To the OP,
Is $200 a small fortune in your eyes? It's probably one of the most expensive laptop cases you can buy...but in terms of quality, it cannot be beat. Thonly ones more expensive that I can think of are the Zero Halliburtons, most of which do not fit the 2.5" thickeness of the D901c.

$200 would be about the maximum I would spend. The pelican looks nice, but is there something a little bit bigger? I'd like my mouse to fit as well. If not, I'll probably go with this.

    Only hard case?

    No backpack or nice rollercase?

I know a few D901C owners that use Tagrus XL backpacks, and those that want a case use this:
    - Kensington Contour Roller

Haha Gophn, nice try, but that's not what I'm looking for. I could care less about portability. I've got 4x giant green bags, a huge rucksack, and a couple backpacks. What I need is something to keep it safe when I go back home.

The army isn't exactly gentle on equipment, and I can just see someone throwing my assault back with my computer in it, into the belly of a c-130 and all my internals shattering.

Also, where can I go to buy the pelican case. I don't see anything on their website with prices or where I can order things.

Casesbypelican is a good reseller. I think if dude mashed his power brick in there, I'm sure you can get the mouse in there too. I would like to see his pictures, though. I can't think of a better case than the 1495 for standing up to the abuse when getting thrown into the belly of a herc.

If you look at the link I posted you'll notice there is a pouch with a zipper to the right of the padded laptop sleeve. That's where the power brick fits, and there is no room for a mouse (at least not my lachesis). The sleeve protects the laptop very well and there's no room for the power brick to move around. I usually carry the brick in a seperate bag since there's always other stuff to carry that necessitates the use of another bag anyway, and use the zipper pouch for my mouse since it is more fragile than the brick.
