    Hey,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any hard clamshell cases (kinda like the ones they have for cd cases?) for that would fit a 12" laptop (Dell D600)?

The only clamshell cases that I've seen were soft, and I was looking for something hard.

Is there such a thing (I'm sure there has to be somewhere...)?

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks!

    That might do the trick...

I'm actually going to be getting the laptop this week... and I have two young kids (ages 6 and 3), and that would work well -- hard and locks (they would totally kill my laptop).

I was looking into tha neoprene sleeve and putting it in my laptop bag that I already have - but I know they would probably kill it (they're notorioius for doing stuff like that).

I found other hard cases -- but they were all those big bulk aluminum cases that look like I should be pulling out a gun from them (you know which ones I'm talking about).

Any other suggestions on cases (more than will to look at others as well :) )

    Thanks again!

Hehehe. I'm actually might get one of those aluminum cases for my future DV8000z. The laptop's already big, who cares about a big case?

Yeah, I was looking a the cases from Booq.

Its tempting to get one of them -- just concerned if it would hold up to my kids (they can't even keep their LeapPads safe ;)

I might have to resort to using a luggage key on the zipper pulls to keep it in there.

If you can see the booq before you buy it would be better, although I don't know of any store that has it, because I doubt that it is THAT hard. I think it is just hardened fabric, so it will give way to pressure, or something heavy beening placed on it ... in case of kids, kids standing on it, or using it as a step ladder :p

I have a booq vyper and seeing that you need the ultimate protection I would advise against the booq. It keeps my vaio from getting scratched but I don't know how it'll do against protecting my vaio from a drop.

Oh and it is just hardened fabric (sorda like cardboard but without the permanent bending), but not hard enough for your purposes.

    Thanks for the suggestions...

I found a nice hard shell case -- but.. unfortunately, the dimensions are only for macs (figures)

    http://www.axio-usa.com/html/p15.html

They have a new one coming out, that's for the newer power books, book pro... but unfortunately, the internal dimensions are way off :(

I guess the only way to go would be a totally hard case (slim most likely). Just want to stay away from the case that look like they should be carry guns in them ;)

I can't always keep an eye on my kids (I actually work nights, and sleep during the day - there are times when they're around when I'm sleeping (they're being watched of course). But I would hate to be afraid enough that they're going to kill my laptop -- where I'll bring it with me to the bathroom... lock myself in my bedroom when I sleep...

They're both at the age where they're curious about everything... and unfortunately... they're both equally obsessed with computers (they have their own P4 desktop).

If anyone runs into anything, let me know. I'm still digging away for the perfect case...

    (IF only this wasn't $200:
