So I'm expecting a giftcard from Dell any day now, and I intend to use it for a TV tuner for my laptop. Narrowed it down to these two tuners (the ones in the title) the following way:
-limited to what Dell has
-want an external usb hardware tuner
-heard hauppauge and avermedia are the best
First off, are there any other such tuners on Dell's site you would recommend? And second, if not, which one of these two would you recommend and why?

AverMedia Volar Max isnt that bad
forgot to mention:
if ur viewing ATSC Digital TV.... ATSC is broadcast in MPEG2/4/H.264.... there isnt much need for CPU power compared to analog processing... -
So really it wouldn't make that much of a difference if I got one of those USB sticks? -

i dunno about the different.... i would say it might help a little with the heat (out of a box instead of a usb stick)..
actually my volar max doesnt run that hot with ATSC (digital TV running for more than an hour)
pics: on a 4GB T8300 Dell XPS M1330... Vista Media Center takes 20-25%..... not too bad IMO..... .AVerMedia's own application takes 50%
ehshell.exe = Vista Media Center
eh*** = Media Center Application(eg recording, scheduler, guide-downloader...)

Wow that looks pretty good, and CPU usage isn't bad at all. Looks like I'll have to have another look at those usb stick tuners. Thank you.
