I sprayed my laptop today with compressed air, and everything was fine untill one of my cousins touched the keyboard and then, started to smell something weird, then he noticed that the keyboard was giving him a bad smell on his fingers and tasted real bad, almost like rust he says, i did the same and it's true, is there any way to fix this problem i would really like to know, and i have tried using water, but that dosn't keep the bad smell and taste away

-
what brand did you use?
-
it's called Perfect Duster..
-
let me know how it goes bc i'm going to clean my laptop tomorrow w/ falcon dust-off lol. maybe the dust circulated inside the computer and is "heating up" next to the hd or gfx card.
edit: you should try cleaning your laptop thoroughly again. by that i mean opening up your entire laptop. -
well i did the same thing with my desktop keyboard and it's the same thing, it tastes really bad
-
It is most likely a bitter chemical put into the compressed air many companies have it in their products it is used to discourage "huffing" the compressed air. Look on the bottle and it will have some sort of warning.
-
but is there anything i can do to remove the taste
edit: it says it contains Difluoroethane -
Nope I have tried many times to get rid of that taste but it is hard to remove try and find a company that doesn't use the bitter stuff.
-
so there is no way to remove it, will it atleast go away by itself?
-
Yes it goes away in a few days or a week so it isn't permanent.
-
Why would you taste a chemical when you don't know what it does?
-
phew that's a relief, do you know if rubbing alchol will do any effect to it?
-
Cover the smell with deodorant.
-
i didn't taste it, my cousin did. and i only did it once....
-
-
when you say it will go away in a few days or a week do you mean the smell or the taste, or both?
-
Who cares if the taste is still there... when do you lick your keyboard?
Taste is really an issue with you... -
-
yeah, i got bored one day and spayed it upside down on a piece of candy to make it cold. and after i tasted it, everything taste horrible for 3 days.
-
lol, you must have been really bored to do something like that
-
-
try clorox disinfecting wipes. it kills odor causing germs. it works on my toilet

Hmm I would suggest just typing on your keyboard instead of eating it.
Rubbing Alcohol will not mess up the lettering on your keyboard, atleast it has never done so for me. I use it to keep oil and fingerprints off my keys.
I love how backwards we think sometimes, if the huffing this is why this happened. Hmm kids want to kill there brains by huffing air cans? Lets make it smell and taste really bad so they wont anymore! In other words solve a problem with a new problem.
Too many people speeding on your road? Lets put 50 speed bumps in like they just did at my house.. No more speeders, nope now it only takes 20 minutes to go down a 2 minute road and you have to waist gas accelerating and use up brake pads slowing down. --> Solve a problem with a problem.
What next? Your kids are not eating there vegetables because they want there ice cream desert? I know lets make ice cream taste like ****. lol. -
Here is the MSDS for the chemical from dustoff http://www.sisweb.com/referenc/msds/dustoff.pdf
LOL I like the part in the MSDS about pathways for exposure.
"Ingestion:
Ingestion is not considered a potential route of exposure. "
HAHA:laugh: Obviously they overestimated the intelligence or underestimated the curiousity of consumers.

i dont think ur supposed to eat the compressed air lol
-
-
I'm curious to know, why are you sucking your fingers each time you type?
I would just use any computer spray cleaner, Fellowes have some for the screen, I don't know if they have some for the KB. -
For the love of God, don't taste, smell, or ingest cleaning chemicals.

Which brain? (just kidding
