Hey guys, just wondering if anyone could suggest a good pair of headphones to use while exercising. I have a pair of Creative earbuds which I rather enjoy, however, my wife was out running with them in and once you start to sweat she says the earbuds started to shock her ears (good 'ole saline solution!! =D).

So, my current Ipod headphones are dying, and I was curious if anyone has a pair of headphones they use while exercising that do not shock the brains out of you one you work up a good sweat.

    Thanks!

Sennheiser MX75 work pretty well for me. They also make some other models (look on Amazon) that have a more tame color scheme. No shocks for me and they never fall out of the ear thanks to the twist-to-fit system.

I've used a Creative headphone for a good workout before and never was shocked. Strange, otherwise, I do like the standard Creative headphones (ones that come with their MP3 players such as the Zen 8GB) and would recommend them. They are definitely much better than IPod earbuds.

I'd recommend Sony's MDR Fontopia, but the length of the cord is long and I ripped one side of the wire out during jogging... so you would have to be careful about that. Otherwise, the bass for the Fontopia is pretty decent.

Dell's XPS m1530 came with a Creative EP-630 which is a noise-isolating earbud (so they stick into the canal pretty tight) and the sound quality is not bad, but I don't know how well it handles during workouts.

I still think Creative's standard earbuds that come with their MP3 players is really good (loud/clear/decent bass but doesn't isolate outside noise in case you need to be aware of your surroundings)... but obviously it would suck if it shocks you during heavy workouts.

I doubt its because of the sweat that they're shocking her. My Sennheiser Cx300's shock me, but its not because of sweat. When my player moves around in my pocket(From running and such) then static gets into my headphones near where they connect. I've been shocked up to 50 times in one day, some of them very painful. Even with all that static my Cowon U2 is still holding up strong without any problems.

Man guys, thanks for all of the great replies.

n640, the ear buds that shocked my wife are the EP-630's.

Syndrome, that is an interesting observance. I'll have to ask her if she had the Shuffle (1st Gen) in her pocket or if sh was carrying it in her hand. If she was carrying it in her hand, do you think just the headphone cord rubbing up against her clothes could produce enough statics electricity to shock her?

I think I might stick with my EP-630s until I get shocked...I've got a $25 credit with BUY.com, so I'll have to check out some of the other ones if I keep getting zapped :D.

Thanks again, and keep the recommendations coming. Although I don't have a large budget, I am somewhat of an audiophile, so if anyone thinks their headphones have superior quality, let me know what & why!

for gym music or music for fitness in general, I recommend european dance music.......

it's ALWAYS the best motivational tool for me...

.....and you don't have to tell anyone at the office if u just listen to it on the mp3 player at the gym ;) ....

.... here's a compilation series on itunes that I recommend -- the "Euro Club Hits" series:

I would recommend the Sennheisser CX-300. They are lightweight and extremely comfortable, and deliver superb sound.

i just bought some ultimate ears, i have the super fi 4 (not the iphone version) and let me tell you they are so so so so so good, listening to them is like being in a stadium. i dont know your budget but they are worth $150 of anyones money. TWENTY TIMES BETTER THAN THE SONY, BOSE AND B&O ALTERNATIVES ive had all of the mentioned earphones and they sucked.

the ultimate ears are superb, only problem is, when you get new songs your constantly turning to see if someone is talking to you because they sound so good like they are their giving you your own private show!!!!!!!!

i am no representative to their company merely a very satisfied customer infact more than satisfied they have exceeded my expectations but hey if their good enough for Justin Timberlake to use on stage then they are good enough for me to wear and drool over.

JVC Marshmallows? They're cheap (under $10), sound good, comfortable, and don't fall out easy.

For exercising I plan to get moterola S9s. No matter how good the earphones are if they have a cord on them, I do not want them for exercise and thus why I want a pair of bluetooth headphones to work out with. Plus I dont believe in spending 150$ for hi-fi stuff to work out with, thats for sitting at the desk IMO and you can really enjoy your investment but just working out hearing something is all you really need the quality is not the prime factor, but the S9's are good quality.

This is also one of the main reasons I am upgrading my sony erricson w600 to a w550 because the new phone supports the stereo bluetooth protocol while my old phone doesnt. Right in my pocket I will have everything I need a pair of small and light headphones that are 100% wireless and my cellphone will hold hours of music to broadcast and has very long battery life.

I really dont care to carry around extra things like a mp3 player, its more too keep track of, more cords plugged in at my desk for charging, and I never have it when I want it.

S9s are going for like 50$ shipped now in some places:
