Any advice or suggestions? My XB500s are now missing sound in one ear and am looking to replace them after 5-6 years.

I'd like to find something under $100, but am a bit flexible if they are equal to or better than my xb500s.

Not familiar with any of the new stuff, so anything helps.

Absolutely loved these headphones, from sound to comfort (I wear headphones all day and never had much problem with these).

    Thanks!

I 2nd that vote to save them, I love my XB500's - wearing them right now :) - and wish I had kept my XB1000's :(

Sony should still service them as well, it's not a bad idea to give them a once over - refurb - get the cushions replaced/etc. See if Sony will help you out.

If the issue is still unresolved, then the headphones should be replaced or repaired. Parts or accessories for Sony® Products are available online through Parts & Accessories Sales.

Thanks, I will definitely try this. I have had them for years now so I don't have any type of packaging from when I bought them - do you know if I need any of this stuff?

All you need is the headphones :)

Just ask for what you need, and react positively to their reply.

It may be that the headphones cable has flexed it's last time, and the internal wire's separated. It could also be a coil failed. There are a few possible failure points. Work with Sony to debug.

There are often local Sony repair depots, we have them here, you can go in and get service as well. Check for your immediate area, and within driving distance.

Also, a little off topic, but how do the xb700s stack up against the 500s? I loved my 500s - had them for 5-6 years. But I may have found some 700s rather cheap.

Thanks again, look forward to hearing more about sony repairing my stuff! :)

There used to be dozens of those centers across the US, plenty for all to reach within driving distance. :(

You might look up locally for TV/electronics service, some sprang up to pick up the load from closed service centers. Try the Yellow pages

I will have to try and check that out - will see what Sony says. If I know it is the wire (I'm really not sure it is), I may be able to resolder them myself if I can find the replacement wire.
