Hey guys. Today my beats solo hd's broke on me after 3 MONTHS!Now I'm looking for some new ones. Im looking for some with very nice bass, durable, And no batteries required. Since I spent 150 on my beats, I don't know if I can spend that much on headphones anymore. I'm not really going to be using it for gaming. Basically music through iTunes, and my phone. Thnx

First: Let your lesson be known to everybody else. Beats are junk, total fad driven overpriced memorabilia.
Second: $150 is worth it for real headphones.
Since you want to use this with your phone you may want to look into earbuds, as full sized headphones are not very portable and most real headphones are not the small on ear types.
Earbuds will give you good noise isolation and naturally have good bass due to the air tight seal.
The other reason Earbuds are good as they are usually low impedance and do not require much power to run, so they wont drain your battery or leave you wanting more volume.
Look at some brands like Shure for in-ear types, if you do not want that in ear feeling or want to hear some ambient noise then look at the Yuin PK's
I personally use with my phone Logitech Ultimate Ears Triple.Fi 10's but do want a pair of Yuin's at some point in life. I actually have a 2nd pair of Triple.Fi's brand new that I was going to have fit to custom ear molds, maybe I should sell them so I can get those Yuins... -
$100 will get you headphones better than Solo HD's. You really can't go wrong with any $100 closed cans from any of the good brands. Grado, Audio-Technica, Sony, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, and so on. If you want bass, adjust the output you are sending to decent headphones instead of getting so-so headphones that give you lots of mushy bass by default.

Darth Beyers
Thing is he is using this with his phone so I dont think he will want over the ear closed cans due to size and power requirements.
If he was willing to get a Fiio E7 or something to pair with them they he could really reach a new level of awesome and power those larger cans without issue, but then we may have to start asking what the quality of his source is too to merit the investment for better gear. -
i have a htc thunderbolt and im using this app called poweramp which has tons of stuff to mess around with in the equalizer. i dont mind the whole power hungry stuff, i just dont want them to require batteries. i also checked out the Fiio e7 and it seems pretty cool. what kind of headphones should i get in order to get some nice sound through that?

Closed Back ~150
A700
M50
DT 770
HD380
If your wearing them out and about the M50 is a good fit it folds up and they look pretty fashionable.
At home I like the A700 just due to pure comfort and that auto fit design they use. My fav headphones are my Ultrasone Hfi 2400 they are really good for bass (esp for open air!) but out of the ~$150 range so are the Denon 2000's that are usually recommended to bass heads over @ Head-Fi -
Those look a bit too bulky for me. Any headphones that are a bit smaller?
-
Honestly, check out Head-Fi.org - Headphone forums and reviews for audiophiles. There are a lot of different cans that produce good bass, but they rest differently on the head and have different isolations. Some headsets also produce a more artificial bass while others emphasize the bass in the song itself. More importantly, I would consider whats comfortable to you (and those around you) and decide if you want open, closed, or buds typed headphones.

I figured that is what you would say, thus why I said earbuds are the best bet right away.
-
definitely go earbuds. I would recommend you a pair, but I'm only familiar with ones outside your price range.
-
right now im looking at the klipsch image S4. these seem to be pretty good for the price but they say that its not so durable? durability is something i must have considering how ive never had any headphones/earbuds that lasted for a year
-
-
i think i might get them then. i have klipsch promedia 2.1 speakers and i'm very satisfied with them. though they're obviously speakers and not earbuds
.
-
i hear that there's something called "burning-in" the earbuds so that they sound better after. does this really work?
-
-
-
"Burning-in" is just mimicking normal usage, albeit in a compressed time frame.
-
koss portapros, the best sounding portable headphones.
-
wow, looks great, i don't think they are bulky. I like them.
-
the klipch's are good, but if you want the maximum bang for your buck check out the sennheizer CX300-II
excellent sound, and good price. beats products are junk.. -
They don't even come close to the Klipsch S4 in sound quality. -
and seeing the OP was satisfied with the sound quality from the beats', it would probably be a good option -
i got my CX300-II's for $15 delivered on amazon
that seller is currently out of stock, but there are a lot of others going for just under $20 -
I also cannot recommend the CX300-II. The soundstage is quite small, the mids are not as full as they could be, and the top end is not open as it could be either, and it doesn't have much detail. Then again, you get what you pay for.

well im gonna go to best buy or something to get them so buying online isnt really and option right now. might go get em today too. i was satisfied with the sound quality from my beats so im guessing the s4 should be just as good if not better?
edit: just got the s4i's cause they didnt have the s4's. i gotta say they are pretty good. very clear IMO. i think that the bass is a bit like my beats but mids and highs seem better. considering the price difference from the two i think the s4i's definitely win. thanks guys!
