Just wanted to share two headphone stories in-case anyone is planning on purchasing some soon. I'm very meticulous, caring and clean with my technology (just fyi :p)

    Skullcandy:
Purchased a pair from Newegg.ca and about 3 months later they snapped. I sent Skullcandy a total of 3 e-mails and did not receive a single response until 1 week+ later. They said I would have to mail the broken pair from Canada to Utah, USA and wait a whopping 5-6 weeks for a replacement. This mean spending 25$+ to ship it and waiting forever. Luckily after hassling Newegg.ca, I got a store credit.

    = DON'T BUY SKULLCANDY!

    Plantronics:
Purchased a GameCom 777 5.1 Surround. About 5-6 months later, the USB wire became loose and opened up. I called Plantronics, got a rep in under 60 seconds. I had lost my receipt so I took a picture of it on my smartphone, e-mailed it to them while I was on the phone (took 1minute) and she mailed me a brand new pair (a 7.1 surround sound upgrade too!) free, using xpress post. I just had to mail the broken ones in the same box the replacements came in.

    = BUY PLANTRONICS

...Anyways, thought I'd share two headphone stories in-case anyone is planning on buying either. The value of the Skullcandy's were 60$ and the Gamecom 80$. :)

The GameCom 777's are really really good. The protective soft layer around the ears protects your ears from touching the speakers. I wear them for up to 8hrs straight and they're still very comfortable on the 8th hour. Shirt clip, volume control to x3-4 the max setting in 'master volume', has a pull down bendable mic and a mic-off button. It can switch from stereo to 5.1/7.1 at a touch of a button.

I have a pair of the Plantronics GameCom 377, essentially the stereo version of the 777. I thought the 777 was 7.1 to begin with, though, not 5.1.

Anyway, I've never owned a pair of Skullcandy headphones, but from what I've read, I'm not missing much. I can definitely vouch for my GameCom 377...best sub-$50 headset there is as far as I'm concerned.

When I ordered them from Dell, the packaging said 5.1, but when I got my replacement, the packaging said 7.1 . The replacement model is also skinnier too.

You were the one who originally referred them to me about 6 months ago via PM's ;)

Edit: It looks like the 7.1 released after I purchased the 5.1 as per a quick google search (at least here in Canada - perhaps the 7.1 was released earlier in the US). ;)

    Heh, I have those, too.

They make excellent ear warmers since the weather is getting cooler.

I have had a pretty good experience with skullcandy support - but like you said, they make you pay for return shipping (which luckily for me was like 3 stamps, since they were only Ink'd headphones) and they take a really long time to process/ship stuff.

I have had 2 plantronics products both performed admirably.

The DSP500 USB headset sounded much better than I expected and had the best microphone of any device I have ever owned.

The Pulsar 590A also sounded better than I expected and gives me wireless freedom with bluetooth so great for my laptop packing or listening to music will being around the house.

There is a mic on the 590A but due to the BT protocol its either in phone mode (Mono w/ Mic) or music mode (A2DP stereo no mic)

i've been a fan of sennheisers myself...

my favorite, unfortunately is in for repairs... the dude sitting next to me on one of my trans pacific flights decided to sqeeze by me to go to the toilet... while i appreciate him not waking me up, i wish he did, as his arse did quite a job on bending the jack...
