Looking for something around the area of 80 to 110$ max. Would be cool for it to be wireless, but not necessary. I'm willing to go for discounts or good rebates. I have Turtle Beaches (X11s) but i'm always told how buzzy they sound, and how they hear my music or I echo (amplified :x). I also have the Gamecom 367, which I do not like either. They are really bulky, make my ears sweat, and the mic doesn't reach far enough and i'm always told my voice is too low on them. I will use my Turtle Beaches on my 360 and I want a PC headphones/headset!
I plan on using this headset for gaming and on vent/mumble/teamspeak so nice voice quality would be great. As for connections, I would prefer USB, but I might get the NP8150, so I don't know if it would be better to use the audio and microphone jacks (I read that it has a digital sound port thing, i don't know if that could come into play when deciding on a headset) Thank you for helping!

I've been really happy with my Razer Carcharias. It's significantly lighter and less sweat-inducing than the GameCom 377 I used to have. Sounds great both in and out.
-
Creative Arena Surround HS1100 has really good bang for the buck. Its comfortable and has great sound.
-
Question about the HS1100:
Are they over ear headphones?
and, are these it? Amazon.com: Creative Labs 51EF0180AA001 Sound Blaster Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset: Electronics
Oh and about the Carcharias, is there a way I can use a USB adapter or would that lessen the quality? USB would be the best but audio and video works too. -
-
Also, are any of the microphones soundcancelling? I have an AC that will probably be picked up without a soundcancelled feature. -
Thats the correct headset in the link btw.
Edit The mic on HS-1100 eliminates background noise. Its called the silencer feature. -
My head is a little big, will the HS1100 fit well or should i go with something else?
-
-
If only they were wireless! haha, if any discounts come by I might get something else, but for now I'm going to get the HS1100's

I use these:
Newegg.com - TekNmotion TM-YW100A 3.5mm Connector Circumaural White Yapster Universal Gaming Headset
I absolutely love them. Very cheap, but they are high quality, with excellent bass, and sound. The mic works fantastically as well. I highly recommend them. -
-
The Creative software is fantastic with "Bass Boost", "Silencer" (eliminates background noise in the mic), "Voice morphing" (my favorite). The soundquality of the HS-1100 can match the Megalodon very well. -
My greatest fear is that the mic quality will suffer and there will be echoing and static, etc.
My current headset echoed, my last headset was too low, my first headset broke and the mic was all buggy at the end. I really don't want to buy one and have the microphone pick up sounds in the room. The only problem I have with the HS-1100 is, I cannot find any video reviews that show mic quality or what it is like if there is an AC in the room or etc. -
I do not like the "mic mute" switch on the power cord though, sometimes I can mute the mic without knowing it when I am adjusting the volume. -
Is there like a warranty or something? So if I do not like it or there is a problem with the product, I could get it replaced or a refund?

Alright, Thank you! I might opt out on a standard audio and microphone headset if the laptop I purchase has nice sound.

i wouldnt buy anything creative anymore because if you ever have problems with them you might a well just bin it. From my experience over the years Customer support from creative is horrifically bad. Driver updates take years (sadly im not joking or over exaggerating either) to release if they ever do. The last update to my sound card was from july of last year. I could understand if it didnt have issues but there are plenty still there. It almost seems as if once the newer product is released they stop supporting the older last gen stuff. This is without taking into account that they have intentionally crippled older products to sell more of the newer ones.

Just slightly more than your budget but you get the wireless you wanted.
Amazon.com: Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930 with 7.1 Surround Sound: Electronics

They do go on sale under $100 from Logitech with there dented box specials and stuff from time to time. -

On ebay they have some for like $85.00 that are considered refurbished like new. In the long run you may be happier if you save up for them.
-
Yea I think I might just do that. (Yay, new episode of Borderlands LP) xD
-
I bought these yesterday, will let you know what they're like when they get delivered.

Baka has the G930, and a few others have vouched for them.
-
I have the G930's. They are pretty sweet. Especially with dead space in the middle of the night.
-
Would you recommend them over certain wired headsets? -
I had the G35's and I just can't go back to wired. I would recommend them for the fact they are wireless. I'm sure you'd be more than happy with the headsets everyone has listed thus far, though.
Edit: And I already have amnesia! Waiting to play it after I beat Dead Space! -
-
Yes. I think it's very good. Do know that I am by no means an audiophile. I haven't tried any insanely expensive headsets or anything. I do love them, though. I plan on using them for years.

G35 on sale for $75 right now but yeah I am holding out for a dented box G930 as well.
I do not need them, but want to have a headset with boom mic to test for different types of recording vs my desktop stand mic & headphone combo.
This article is really what put me over the top in favor of the G930 and not settling for a G35 even though I only need it for the mic.

But it also brings up some stuff that disturbs me like voice chat only coming in the left speaker. Also read some stuff at other sites about 16khz audio being the max for 64bit OS for the mic. I run my mumble server with much higher quality settings than that so I would hate my hardware to hold me back from sounding my best. -
G930: Teamspeak / Skype - Voice only on the right ... - Logitech Forums
I was looking at fixes, that might work, I don't know about Mumble though. Tear do you have that problem? or you don't use Voip?
Waiting for that dented box! -
Never used skype. But have used mumble in CSS matches. Everything seemed fine.
I had a couple problems with the G35's I had. None so far with the G930's. -

i found its a driver issue telling windows its a 7.1 device when its a 2.0 device.
chaining it to 2.0 fixes the voice on one side only thing.
the 7.1 surround is only virtual handled by the drivers of the device, not a real 7.1 thus the issue. -

Arrived yesterday, works brilliantly, tested on Gaming Laptop and Media PC watching TV, sound was great, no interference or loss of signal. Quite comfortable too. Have not tested the mic yet but gaming later on so will try it out. -

In XP people can force it to 2.0 but in 7 64bit it seems that is not an option. There is a opion for channel cloning that I have not tried yet but what I am afraid this will do is give mono on both sides instead of stereo.
