I'm looking for a headset with a mic that is good for gaming, music & movies for my pc. I'm not interested in the 5.1 headsets because I had a set before and hated them. Any suggestions?

Despite some of the problems with comfort others have, I personally sport Altec Lansings.

I've also heard good things of Sennheiser from roommates I've had in the past though.

    Just my 2 cents.

Sennheisers are too good for those simple purposes.

    get Sony's...

    These are perfect for u : MDR-XD300

Plantronics DSP500's or the new Audio series that replaced them. Best mic in the world on those things and really good SQ too (I vouch for the DSP 500's I had a pair, not so sure about the new ones) I know a handful of professionals that use them too for there recording work.

I highly recommend the EDGE Acoustics GX400 headset.

It's super expensive though, between $150-170, but you get what you pay for. I've read lots of reviews before I bought these and they were right on how awesome these really are. I've had multiple headsets before; Seins, Logitech, Sony, and nothing came close to the GX400 sound quality.

They are super comfortable, extremely portable, excellent microphone quality, and the in-ear noise cancelling is excellent. Bset of all they sound fantastic. I can't recommend these enough.

those GX400's may sound nice but a in-line mic like that has limitations. It just cant preform the same as a boom mic infront of your mouth.

It may pick up every word you say, but it has to be sensitive enough to pick up your voice form a good distance and not at a direct angle, so that means its also good at picking up background noise. Probably not a big deal for most, but I use my headset for recording not just talking in a game/vent and so I need professional level recording and plantroincs does that really well and for.... alot less. 20$ for the DSP-500's I think.

First time tho I have seen earbuds as a recommendation for a headset, so the idea is kind of neat.

The microphone is super super sensitive. So if you do recording and so forth this mic wouldnt be a good choice if you dont want outside noise. When I'm in game and I have the TV on thats about 15-20ft away at a relativley low-medium level, my teammates can hear the TV when I have my mic activated. But they do say they can hear it clearly, so I guess thats good. =) I might have the mic threshold set too low/high but if my teammates can hear me clearly then I don't want to fiddle with settings.

I know a few gaming sites have rated these the best gaming headsets but at the high price they were a bit hesitant for a strong recommendation since most gamers dont want to fork over close to $200 and would rather spend 50 or so. But if you got the money you will not be disappointed. One of the best purchases I've made.
