Hey everyone,
Can anyone recommend a headset for music and recording (vocals, male tenor). I know that when it comes to recording I can spend thousands on microphones and preamps and I have, but I just want a headset of decent quality so I can record on the go at the cost of a little sacrifice in quality.
I'm trying to keep it $50 or under, the cheaper the better. And noise reduction is definitely a plus.
Thanks!

Depends on what you mean by 'little'.
But as far as cheap headsets go, I've seen few with better pickup (as compromised as it is) than the Beyerdynamic MMX 2. Amazon has it for $80.
The headphone portion is also based on the very-decent-for-the-money DT 231. Not the most comfortable set out there, but a high bang-for-buck quotient in terms of what you get in terms of sound in/out. -

By little I mean as long as it's better than the laptop's built in mic, I'm happy. And the headphones part is more important than the mic.

I used the Plantronics GameCom 377 for a while, and it did not disappoint.

I like buying my gear from Musicians Friend, they should have something you're looking for.
Depending on if you want a USB or 1/8" connection, they have a Yamaha headset that is closed ear Yamaha CM500 Headset with Built-In Microphone or CAD U2 USB Headset with Microphone looks to be even less expensive. I'd go with the Yamaha, personally. -

Can't have GAMECOM printed in capital across the headphone, doesn't look too professional
Unless it's made by Razer, then I wouldn't mind
Just kidding, but preferably the headset looks plain and not too flashy.
Which would you recommend? If the same headset has both USB and 1/8 inch connection, what would be the difference in sound/power? And the CAD U2 headphones looks small compared to the Yamaha and what Mastershroom recommended. I don't have big ears, but I'd prefer them bigger.
And musicians friend is a great site, thanks for reminding me! -
I'd recommend the Yamaha, just because I could take it and plug it into any other source with a 1/4" adapter if necessary. Plus it looks professional and looks rugged enough to throw in with your other gear.

I'll vouch for Musician's Friend as an awesome website. I've bought so much equipment for my drums there, along with my new guitar.

Anything cheaper than the Yamaha?
Electric or acoustic? I'm very into guitars, basses (as you can tell from my avatar) and other instruments as well

Just a dinky little 3/4 size Rogue acoustic, $40 including shipping.

That's a decent price on a starter guitar. If you had told me you were looking for a guitar last year, I would've sold you mine for 5 dollars. I just bought a Cole Clark FL1 last summer and I love it!
Back to headsets... any more recommendations?
