    I just got this headset.

    I've got a couple of questions/issues.

With laptops, if I connect the 3.5mm plugs, will the laptop automatically switch from the built in mic/speakers to my headset?

The headphones are working, but I'm not sure how to get my desktop to recognize my mic. I thought I was using a mic but turns out I was using the crappy mic built into my crappy webcam that picks up all sounds. I swapped my device to my realtek (which is an onboard sound card), but no luck. Any help?

Also, I don't want to get under my desk to swap my headset and my monitor speakers, anybody suggest a good headset/speaker switch? Or are they not worth it? Is there anywhere I can buy locally instead of online, cause shipping is half the cost for it from the products i'm looking at. Also, do they make the sound quality worse?

I can only find 2 switch hubs:
    Plantronics: http://www.amazon.com/Plantronics-PC-Headset-Speaker-Switch/dp/B000069E1V
    and Thinkgeek: http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/speakers/8054/?cpg=ab

Hm, using windows sound recorder, my headset was recording when I was playing music. When I turned off the music, recording stopped... could this be bad wiring that the mic records my sound?

Did you get the professional edition, thats the one I got, it works great.

    Looks huge though haha,

In your system try by your clock, go to the volume control, right click and go to "Sounds" Click "Record" tab, and click on the mic, than go to properties, and set up headset, that should get you going.

as for your other questions, Sorry, cant help. :)

Nah, i settled for the normal ones, they are comfy, but they might get your ears warm/hot.

Sigh, when i got my hopes up that it was working, it turns out it just swapped to my logitech webcam mic again.

I tried it on my brother's USB connect, and my mic was working, but my sound wasn't. On his computer, the USB connector works for both sound and mic.

I tested my hardware with both the USB and the back of the computer, and both worked in the hardware testing.

Ok... after hardware testing it works now yay :D

+ rep for making me look at sound properties lol

Weird, now everything just starts working. The recording isn't picking up my music anymore, mic is working, headset too.. Yarr! I hope I don't got to go through this again when i get my headset/speaker switch from plantronics.
