Hi guys my Creative Sound Blaster Arena headset keep loosing sound momentarily, usually happens when im in combat, if im on my own and just shoot at a wall doesnt seem to happen. I have tried re installing the drivers from Creative site, im running Windows 7 64bit and I was told that the drivers havent been optimised for windows 7 only for vista because it doesnt have the logo on the box.

Secondly I though it could be the fact I am running it on a very prower hungry latop with a mouse, laptop cooler and now headset plugged into all the USB ports. Does this sound like a power issue, i.e not enough bandwidth going to the earphone.

    Many Thanks in advance.

    Josh

BF3 in general has issues with 90% of the sound randomly cutting out sometimes; you will fire and hear part of the firing sound, but virtually no other sounds will be present in the game at all. I have no clue what causes this issue, but I know others have had it too. I don't know if this is your issue, or if yours is specific to your headset.

I think if your having power issues your laptop might just shut off. I also don't think a 3.5 mm headphone/port are capable of drawing enough power to make a significant difference, unless you are just right on the border. Plus you have a Sager and unless its broken your PSU should give you enough power. If you want to test if that is really the case (I doubt it is) try to run some game on settings above what your machine can handle for like 30 minutes and see whether anything cuts out.

My general experience with headphone drivers is that they should work pretty much "anywhere", if your headphones can be plugged into any MP3 player they should be AOK unless they are broken. If they are USB/have PC specific drivers there could be some problems.

If you don't have issues in other games/places its probably a BF3 specific problem.

Thanks thats exactly the problem I treid to describe :D I get partical sound, e.g. the RPG makes a funny wooshing noise but not as you would expect, and the AK can cut out but i can hear other faint noises just not the gun. +1

The headset I have is USB but if you dont think its a power issue then Im inclined to believe you, the headset works fine with pretty much everything else I do. I will test it in other games on high. The drivers I downloaded are for windows 7 but only in the BETA stage so I hope that isnt the problem as there are no plans to ever release them fully. +1

Thank you both VERY much for your responses! :D
