AHHHH, please help me some one.

So, i have done a lil checking up online (o the great internet...) and as we all know, 1080p is kick @$$ and we all want our minimum 60fps (hz or something). Now the hitch, whats with the XXbit color. I know the lower it is, the more dithering and the less colors (duh), but how do you get it?

what do you need for 1080p, 60fps, 24bit color.

    what monitor/cables do you need?
ive looked at hdmi and the most i can find it supports is like 12 bit color. please tell me i am wrong. To me, it sounds like 24 bit color is here, but no one can reach it.

    thanks

So what exactly are you trying to do? I am guessing you want to attach an external monitor to your laptop and display HD video. First off, is your laptop capable of producing and outputing HD resolutions? What type of video out connectors are on your lappy? If you have a DVI or HDMI connector, then yes, you are capable of doing HD video. If you only have a 15 pin VGA connector or S-Video connector for video out, then odds are your laptop GPU will not handle HD resolutions very well (not impossible though).

What cable you need depends on your laptop and the monitor you are connecting to.

My laptop has a DVI connector for video out and here is the cable I use:

Here is your standard 15 pin VGA cable. Works for most laptops out there.

    I hope this helps some.

You seems confused about LCD color depth. Read this:

    http://compreviews.about.com/od/multimedia/a/LCDColor.htm

Cheap TN LCDs are 6bit. Better TN, PVA/MVA, IPS are 8bit. Dithering when done right isnt so bad. Doubt you will be able to tell the difference. HDMI can support 12bit which really isnt a concern as the most you will encounter is 8bit.

this hits wat i was curious about.

so, no monitor has more than 8 bit color, except on the super good monitors.
also, what is the point of my laptop saying 16/32bit color? if its not possible then why?

i havnt read the article yet, just checked this for a sec, i will soon. thanks
