Hey all. I'm looking for in-ear earbuds on the cheap, but I hate rubberized cords. I hate them. IPod headphones have the best cords I've ever used - they straighten very easily after being folded or rolled, they're smooth, etc.

To give you an idea of how non-audiophilic these can be, I am satisfied with my sister's $16.99 Skullcandy in-ear earbuds.

I'm looking to purchase on the internet, since I'm going to college tomorrow and I have no transportation in Pittsburgh to physically shop around.

    Shoot me a link, guys!

My in-ear Sony EX-85 headphones that I got for $40 shipped (if that qualifies as cheap) are very nice, especially if compared to those cheap Skullcandy earbuds. I highly recommend them.

There has to be a general store, school book store, or large supermarket near enough to school that you can walk there. I'd recommend seeing what they have there if all you want are some throwaway buds with a specific coating on the cord.

You left out the most important part: price range. Yeah you said what your satisfied with, but considering what I know about sound I would never suggest something like that. ;) My favorite cables would have to be the ones on the FutureSonic Atrio M5's. I like the cables on my Westone ES3X also but they're more subject able to static electricity.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. My price range probably shouldn't pass the $40 mark... I recognize that I'm not looking for audiophile sound here, although I am a pianist and vocalist with extensive musical background. I simply don't want those qualities in these earbuds.

For the record, these will be for use in an architecture studio, where even with noise cancellation the ambient sound will be high. I will also game with them.

Hey everybody. So after looking through the headphone world a little bit longer, I can't find anything which matches my needs. With that in mind, I'm going to purchase a pair of Skullcandy headphones, and suck it up and deal with the sticky cords.

    Thanks for the help though!
