Hi there
Newbie here, so apologies if i have posted this in the incorrect section.
Just after some advice really. I have a Samsung R60 plus, has served me very well for the last 3 years but now the screen has gone permanantly dim - have checked all the settings and they are all fine so from what i can gather it could be either the inverter or the backlight.
Couple of things i want to know - a guy (yeh, bet you heard this one before) in my local shop took it apart and said he thinks it's the backlight because if it was the inverter i would see no image at all - is this true?
Also, on looking around the net it "seems" that when they refer to the backlight they mean the actual screen and not the bulb - is this also true?
Yet, on one site it says laptop screen bla bla for my make/model etc 70.00 and on another it says 140.00 but they both say screen, no mention of bulb.
Just for info, i have a Samsung R60 plus.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, if i have to buy a screen then so be it, it's obviously going to be a lot cheaper than a new lappy, but if i can just buy the bulb then i would rather do that or is it just safer to buy a new screen and swallow the relatively small cost?
Thanks again in anticipation guys.
Tony

If the inverter went out it would cause the same problem since the only thing the inverter does is provide power to the ccfl bulb, it doesn't affect the actual display. So the problem could be with one or the other. But the inverter is the easiest part to replace as it's not part of the screen. The ccfl is also replaceable but you have to basically take the lcd panel apart to change it with the risks that come with that operation.
You can buy a new screen without fear since the bulb is included in the screen, it's not something that you have to buy separately.
