Hello all. Have recently ordered my Acer Aspire 5930g 15.4" and I'd really like to keep it safe, secure and scratch-free when I go to Uni. I reside in the UK and I've got a few choices here after doing some research on these forums. Need a bit of help deciding and maybe just a gentle shove or some advice :p

I have a Jansport backpack atm which is a pretty decent size, seems comfortable enough and should last a while longer so I was wondering whether I should just get a decent sleeve and carry my laptop in there with my books/art materials/food/whatever else I put into the compartments, or whether a whole new laptop backpack is a good idea and encouraged with thick protective walls and etc. I think this is my current bag - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jansport-TM...sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=sports&qid=1220957374&sr=8-3

Here's the decent priced backpack which people seem to recommend : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wenger-Swis...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1220956928&sr=8-1
    - However, in a review it seemed to stick out quite a bit like a big box, is this right?

Here are a few of the sleeves I'm considering. I know I probably don't need a sleeve and bag so I was just wondering what you guys would recommend and I was hoping a sleeve might be enough if I'm careful enough. Views?

    - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...=dp_proddesc_0?ie=UTF8&n=560798&s=electronics - think I like the look of this one the most. A trusted manufacturer for sleeves?

Thanks all for your help and bits of advice

Howdy! Congrat's on your new lappy! :)

I like the Synergy....Swiss Gear for a backpack..in fact, I just ordered it yesterday from www.buy.com ;) :) I had been looking at it for a bit..and decided to go ahead and order it. It's a nice bpack, and has had great reviews from others :)

On the sleeve...I like the 4th one you have listed, the Belkin the best..(and the one you like the most). And, yes Belkin is very much so a trusted manufacturer for sleeves ;) :)

You, may also want to check this thread, it's very helpful!

However, whatever you *choose* will end up being the right one for you, that fit's your needs!

    Hope that helps,

    Cin! ;) :)

Thanks for the advice, I think I will just go for the sleeve for now and that will hopefully keep it in near-perfect condition ^_^. I found that my current Jansport bag was on a website like this - http://www.laptopstuff.co.uk/p/Jansport_Beamer_Laptop_Backpack.htm - so that makes me confident it'll be ok. The neoprene sleeve will protect it from books and whatever, long as I don't go throwing the bag around or sliding down hills on my back... then I may start consider the Synergy when that style of transport takes off :p

you could go with the zeroshock III sleeve. its a bit more expensive but it uses memory foam. i dropped it once from about 3 feet onto the hard ground and theres was NO dmg whatsoever. i was amazed and its a tribute to the memory foam that is used on the inside of the sleeve.

very nice, and small. i slide it easily into my backpack. comes in all sizes. the brand may not be familiar to ppl in the US, but from what my cousin is saying, its more well known in asia

i got mine in asia so it only cost me about $25
    EDIT:
just noticed the person above me recommended the same thing lol

:) I am happy to see somebody else knows about these little-known (at least in the US) sleeves! These things are amazing, wontons.

I completely agree. They are the most protective sleeves around, IMHO.

And now you know there is an Ebay seller specializing in them in case you want to get another one!

    Have a great day. :)
