    Hello!
I'm having some heating problems on my compal fl90 15.4" (8600m gt 512mb), it shuts down on some more GPU hungry games (i believe from overheating).

So i've decided on buying a cooler pad. But i cannot make my mind on which one will be most suited for my laptop.

Basically I've stopped my eye on the following coolers:
    1. Cooler Master Notepal Infinite
    2. Zalman NC1000
    3. Zalman NC2000

Here's an image of the vents of my laptop so you can have a better idea of the looks.

I'm hoping X2P also share his thoughts :)
Also everybody else are more than welcome to share opinions :)

    Thanks in advance!

It's more of a choice between the cooler master and the zalman. Not sure of the size of the laptop, but basically 15.4" or higher, get the nc2000. Anywho, looking at your bottom, it seems the cooler master will reach the vents. I have a zalman nc2000, the thing i don't like about it is that the holes are at the bottom part of the zalman, instead of the top. So, on my hp dv5t, the vents are located at the back left, meaning if placed directly on top of the zalman, the vent is at the top part of the zalman. I have to pull my laptop down to get my vent to line up. That's my rant about it, but other than that, it cooled my CPU under full load 11C, while my GPU 9C when running a vista screen saver. I compared it to leaving it just regularly on a wood desk to having it on top of the laptop. It might have been a better choice to test on the wood desk but raising the backs with sticky notes, as this is a easy temporary solution most people could do.

The laptop is 15.4" (i've edited my post too).

My main concern is to not blow hot air in the vents, and at the same time blow cold air in.
So basically i think the zalman is not a good choice, since in the back its only aluminium, no fans. Right?

Yeah, there is about 3 inches of no fan from where you are supposed to place the laptop (on the rubber end). Coincidentally, 3 inches is how much I pull my laptop down, so, if only there was holes in the top 3 inches, my laptop would be right on top of the nc2000 instead of having 3 inches of the laptop hang off the bottom and 3 inches of extra space on the top, thus, more or less, you waste 6 inches of space >.<. This is with my dv5t, so it might be different with yours.

    I recommend you do this:

Post an image with basic measurements and that will say whether it will fit on a Zalman or not. The issue with the CM Infinite is you have a couple vents in the center area which the Infinite cannot cool unfortunately.

I'll make the measurements when I go home, in about 2-3 hours and post them :)
    Thanks!

    Hello!
Here's my basic specifications about the size and location of the vents.
Again, the red one sux cold air and at the back of the laptop on the side of the red vent is where the hot air gets out.

It should fit on the Zalman NC2000 rather comfortably, the rear fan will not be fully hit but will be hit minus 1.2 cm which if the up most front vent area is not getting warm you could get the whole fan on there.

    Good luck

I see, okay. And why is a bad idea to buy the cooler master notepal infinity?

The notepal Infinite distributes air to the edge of the cooler which would not hit most of your vents and most of your chassis.
