It's time for a new notebook mouse and I could use some input from other users. I've only used a few of the Microsoft wireless notebook mice in the past, including-
Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000
Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 4000
Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000
Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000
The 7000 was my favorite, but I go thru these things in 4-6 months because the scroll wheel usually stops working! I tried filing a warranty claim on the first one, but it's not worth the trouble....I'd rather just pay $30 or so bucks for a new one.
The main things I want/need-
Buttons- the standard 3-buttons is fine, if more- need to be able to deactivate them
Connectivity- USB receiver or Bluetooth
Other- "Noisy" mice that click loudly really irritate me, so the softer (less audible) the clicking noise when a button is pressed, the better!
Color- Black, gray, silver...neutral colors.

I've been using the Logitech VX revolution, although from your post it seems that it may be overkill. however the 'freewheel' switcher means you can turn off the click of the scroll wheel.
is $30 your budget? -
Logitech VX Nano - I use that with my EeePC, no clicking, has a nice 'freewheeling' scroll wheel, grey/black colour scheme, and highly configurable

Check Ebay for the Logitech MediaPlay.
It's getting harder and harder to come by now (here in the UK at least) - which is a shame, 'coz it's a fantastic little mouseLast edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
If you use PowerPoint - the MS Presenter 8000 is great!

Are you firmly for wireless and against bluetooth? You can get a tiny USB bluetooth dongle from Kensington if you want bluetooth. That's what I did. No line of sight worries.
Then I got the Logitech V470 bluetooth mouse. It's surprisingly comfortable for someone like me who tends to like huge mice because I have pretty wide hands. The thing is, the mouse is small. Usually I'd get all cramped up with a small mouse. But this one is working for me. Very good battery life too. There's a review of it on Amazon if you want to check it out. -
I used to have VX Revolution, but apparently it had some problems with frequency interfering which caused it to work slowly. I replaced it with Logitech V220 notebook mouse and happy since then. It's a good mouse worth $20.
Help me choose a notebook mouse...
