I'm trying to find a generic usb port replicator, i.e. USB, Ethernet, PS/2 etc, that has a midi port built in, does anyone know of such a device? i'm aware that i can buy a USB -> Midi adapter, but it seems a bit excessive, and i'd like to keep the number of boxes with flashing lights on my desk to a minimum.

    Hope someone can help.

    Thanks in advance.

with the way things are specialized now I think it would be hard to get something that does everything. I know even with the port replicator I got I can't even use the ps/2 ports on it although it does have a line in and out as well as dvi which is my main goal in getting it. Your best bet is probably getting a sound card for midi.

unless your machine comes with a built-in port replicator connector, imho one must stay away from the advertised "especially designed for ..." USB external port replicator. Invest in a self-powered multi-port USB hub then u would be happy. Another foot note is those VGA port via USB port replicator would just wreck your machine performance. A direct external connection to an external monitor via ur own OWN vga port is much better.

    cheers ...
