Does anyone know of a good laptop sleeve manufacturer?
I need to buy a sleeve for my Voodoo laptop.
It measures:
16.5" x 12.5" x 3.6"
My laptop is so thick, that I need something which will fit it.
I have a steel liner for my backpack, so I just want to be able to have a nice sleeve which can slide into my metal backpack liner, to keep my system safe.
Any recommendations would be great.
I have heard of Tom Binh, and I have emailed them about a custom made liner.

Hey K-Tron, I bought a neoprene sleeve from Waterfield a few years back for my ZD7000 and now use it for my DV9700; it's a great bag, very durable and thick neoprene to protect the laptop. On their site they list a sleeve for the U709, but the dimensions provided are smaller than you specified (15.5 x 11.8 x 2.0):
http://www.sfbags.com/products/sleevecases/sizing/voodoo.htm
They also list a contact link at the bottom of the page, if you don't see a match for your notebook. -
thanks, but that liner wont fit my system. I made mine much thicker, and I put a lift kit on it, so it plain wont fit unless the bag has a 3.6" or larger thickness to it.
The search continues.
I will email that company and see if they do custom bags, hopefully they do.

Check out Zeroshock II. Awesome sleeve. It utilizes memory foam. I don't know if it would fit your notebook, but I know they have plenty of different sizes. The only place I know that offers is it is this one guy on Ebay.

This one from Belkin seems to be quite roomy compared to other 17" sleeves.

I can't find the exact measurement though. -
thanks stewie, it doesnt look like it will fit from the image.
The people at Tom Binh wrote back, and they told me that they do not have anything which will fit my system, but they gave me two places which make custom laptop sleeves:
http://thepouch.com/
http://www.sfbags.com
I have not heard of them before, but I will shoot them an email soon

If you want a a laptop sleeve from China, I may help you.
My e-mail: [email protected] -
nara3961, are you a bag manufacturer from Shenzen or any way in related to that industry?
-
nara, I havent sent you an email, cause I am weighing my options at this time.
I have heard back from "the pouch" and "sfbags"
Here are the responses I received:
FROM SF BAGS:
Hi K-TRON,
Thanks for writing. We only have one SleeveCase with the horizontal circumference to fit your laptop and that would be our 38-28. It would be fairly close but a bit oversized. It would have an extra 2" of horizontal circumference and an extra 1" of space top to bottom. We can do a Custom SleeveCase but they are pricey.... starting at $450 for the first one.
Let me know what we can do for you.
Best regards,
Gary
FROM THE POUCH:
Good Morning robot K-TRON,
We custom make everything that comes from this factory. We are the only case mfg. that builds cases for the Dell XPS M2010, The Acer 9800 Series, and the HP Pavilion HDX, and we can make your case for $110.00 plus 9.05 Shipping and handling. Add $5.00 if you want a color other than black. Each of our cases is built from Shock Resistant, Water Resistant Neoprene with Lycra lining. Each comes with a nice Nylon Pocket on the back that covers the entire back side of the case to within 2 inches of the top, and you can truly carry almost anything in that pocket.
Dell made one for the XPS M2010 for some time. They got $268. for theirs, but it had wheels on it, and was not allowed aboard aircraft. They quite making it, so now we are the exclusive MFG. for these Jumbo, Gaming Cases.
One other thing. Eash of our cases have a nice padded nylon lid that omes over the top, and seas with Velcro.
Thank you for contacting us, and we look forward to building your cases.
Sincerely,
Bob L

So as of now, it seems my options are:
$450 + for a sleeve from "SF BAGS" or $120 for a sleeve from "The Pouch"
or
I can make one
I will have to figure that out, but first I need to email nara

I would love to see you take on this task, of making one yourself!
Then, you would have exactly what you want!
I know you can do it!
Cin -
Thanks Cin,
I have never made anything with fabric before, I usually build out of steel, or wood, both of which are not good for sleeve materials.
I did email nara3961, so maybe she has something in mind for me
K-TRON -
Let me know..that would be really cool for your lappy!
Cin -
well nara did respond and her bag looks nice. Its not really a sleeve, but a carry bag, so I dont know if I want to get it.
I think I am going to email my buddy Kinghong, nara, and the others to find out what materials they use. I think I am going to give making one a shot. I might as well, its all custom already, so why not make a custom sleeve
K-TRON -
hi, it's Nara.
Have you received my email?? -
Yes, I did receive your email.
The pictures look like a bag, which is not what I was looking for. I was looking for more of a padded sleeve which can slide into my backpack.
I will send you an email back with a picture of what I am talking about. Hopefully you have something
K-TRON -
Hi, Nara again.
I've write you back.
You have a really large laptop...
^_^
I hope I could help you~ -
I'm not sure what will fit your notebook, but here are a couple sleeves I like, that you will not see at most places that sell computer stuff:
1) The E-Wrap by sporting goods manufacturer REI. Can be bought at www.rei.com, or at your local REI store, if you live near one. (They also have crappy sleeves, but the E-wrap is good, very protective.) It can open either landscape or portrait, and has two handles as well, both to carry it landscape or portrait. It also has a zippered pouch on the outside. It comes in a few different sizes.
2) The Zeroshock case by Shinza. Zips all the way around the notebook. Thin, but a very strong protective material. Comes in several sizes. Take a look at them at:
www.shinza.com
Neither of those will cost much more than $30. I don't know if either has one that will fit your notebook. Look at them on the web, call and ask questions, and find out if one may suit your needs.
