I have a Memorex USB jump drive. Initially my computer recognised it and Windows could see it so I could use it. Now, in "Devices", it is seen by the computer, and stated to be functioning OK; yet Windows doesn't see it, so I can't use it.

Any idea what has gone wrong and how I fix it.

It still works fine on other computers.

    Thanks

What do you mean by "my computer saw it but windows didn't"? Did you safely remove it? What's your OS? Tried restarting?

It should be under 'My Computer'.
Have 'My Computer' open as soon as you plug it in, and see if it appears, even briefly.
Maybe try reformatting it with another computer.
Might have something to do with some preference/autoplay settings.
Try some other jump drives, and see what they do.
    Just some suggestions....

Under "Devices", the computer identifies it as a USB attached drive, and says it is working properly.

Windows (XP Home), however, no longer can see it (as a drive under "Computer"), and therefore I can't access it. It used to work fine.

It's been like this for weeks - I've restarted etc many times. Windows just doesn't see it.

I figure that's it - but don't know where to find the problem.

That helped thank you. I can now access it, though not through the usual route of Computer>drive F. Still not sure why it won't show up there.

have you tried reassigning it a drive letter?
have you tried Windows Explorer, or typing in F:\ at the run prompt?

I did re-assign it ("G") - no difference. Will try run prompt tomorrow. (on East coast)

    Thanks
