My friend just came to me and asked me to recommend him some speakers and i'm not a audiophile so i ended up asking on NBR.
He want some speakers that is compact so he can just put them in a suite case and then take it on a plane with him. He would mostly use it for music with an ipod or with his laptop. Plz recommend some speakers. Thx.

Altec Lansing XT2's. If hes not too picky about sound quality. Best he'll get out of notebook speakers though

Nice speakers 'n' all, but they're not what I'd call "compact", or suitable to "put in a suitcase" - which are the OP's requirements?

@ OP: How much is your friend willing to spend on them, because that could play quite a big part on what choices are available?

But in all honesty... he/she might be better advised getting a set of headphones, or good quality earphones?

Yeah, if you want something portable, then you can't really say audiophile and speakers at the same time(with portable being the main point). The lowest level of speakers I'd go with are the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system, which is much to big for a suit case. I'd suggest to him headphones, and for headphones I suggest the Ultrasone HFI-780.
