I think I need to agree on this point.

A headset generally is not made to give you a trully wonderful "sound experience" - and dedicated wireless headphones will easily beat a wireless headset.

The next step, wired headphones will (depending on brand, price etc.) beat wirelss headphones.

If you value sound quality, get a dedicated pair of headphones.

For Skype I have used - as an example - my Sennheiser IE8 (or before Sony EX85) - both IEMs - and the built in Microphone in my laptop.

If you need a headset for gaming or work I suspect you may have other requirements.

    For what?

Gaming has other requirements than casual Skype usage or professional support.

I always have and always will like my Plantroincs Pulsar 590's

They sound great to me, and being bluetooth makes them very handy.

I have a mini review here on the forums you can check out.

I used wired headphones, but I have tried the Sony Bluetooth ones at Fry's. They sounded as pretty good.

So you want home use? :)

    That'll give people an idea.

I'd have said wired - but its your choice.

The wireless headphone market isn't really that.. advanced? Theres a few sets from a few different manufactures but nothing like the cabled headphones. And as far as bluetooth goes, it doesn't even have enough bandwidth for proper good sound. If your still set on wireless look at sennheiser.

i believe theres quality in headphones , but for headsets ... i can hardly find one that sounded equivalent to headphones especially for music(ignore gaming headsets , lots of bollocks :D ) being wired or wireless

I use a pair of Sony DR-BT50 headphones. They're Bluetooth, and the audio quality is unreal. Of course, they're quite pricey but wow is it ever worth it. Just make sure that when you pair them, you connect the "Advanced Audio" option. You don't want to hear what the headset and microphone sound quality is like... it's atrocious.

It's funny you mentioned Sony DR-BT50 because I have the exact same headphone. Yes it was rather expensive but I agree with you. Definitely worth it! I don't know about the sound quality though... I mean it's really good but there are better.

Yes, there are better. But they're typically RF, right? I saw this video on Youtube of a guy's headphone RF audio being picked up by a scanner, and since my brother has and uses frequently a very powerful scanner, I didn't want him to hear what I was doing. Heh.

I have the JBL Reference Series 610 headphones, which can be used either as bluetooth or wired headphones. They sound very good as bluetooth, but most reviewers note that they have less frequency response using bluetooth than when they are connected by wires. I have not tested this myself, and there are no numbers that I am aware of, just subjective tests by reviewers.

If the OP values wireless connectivity more, then the OP is willing to settle for sound quality that will be capped by the data transfer rate of Bluetooth. Any decent headset will be suitable because of the limiting factor of SQ being the medium of transfer as opposed to the headset itself. Consider getting a Bluetooth receiver where you can plug in your own 3.5mm headset. I personally recommend getting the Sony HBH-DS205 (built-in mic, ~$70 w/ headphones), but if you want different headphones, you can get a good pair of headphones depending on budget and style.

edit: for something half price and just the receiver, maybe this would interest you

I'll probably pick one up in the next month.
